New York City Department of Transportation seeks a qualified Administrative City Planner to lead, as Director, the Capital Planning and Initiation (CPI) Unit within the division of Budget and Capital Program Management. The primary roles of the Capital Planning and Initiation Unit include planning and scoping new streets capital projects to be designed and built by the Department of Design & Construction, coordinating the agency's $5.1 billion 10-year streets capital plan with other ongoing projects and plans across New York City, and collaborating with other city agencies to manage stormwater in the city's right of way. Minimum Qualifications 1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and four (4) years of full-time experience in city planning, at least eighteen (18) months of which must have been in a managerial capacity; or Preferred Skills
The ideal candidate for this position will have experience managing staff, familiarity with the City of New York's capital budgeting and planning process, understanding of street design and capital construction, as well as the Department of Transportation's Strategic Plan and other long-term objectives. Detail oriented and possess a commitment to ensuring good asset management and improving traffic safety, resiliency, and sustainability on city streets. Familiarity with ArcGIS, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office is necessary. Excellent writing, presentation, and strong organizational skills. 55a Program
