Overview

As a Staff Scientist in the Environmental Practice for Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC), you'll collaborate with our project teams to support the preparation of permit applications (air, water, and solid waste related), annual reports [Toxic Release Inventory (TRI) reporting, Form R, RCRA, etc.], and compliance plans [Spill Pollution Control and Countermeasures (SPCC) Plans, Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP), etc.] under the guidance of an experienced environmental professional. In addition, you'll be introduced to auditing projects and will provide support services as assigned by the project team. In this role you will begin interacting with clients and federal/state government officials.

You'll collaborate with our project teams to support the preparation of Health and Safety Plans, perform sampling of environmental media (air, surface water, groundwater, soil, and sediment), accurately record field observations, measurements, and readings, and assist in preparing tables, figures, and reports under the guidance of an experienced environmental professional. In this role you will begin interacting with clients, contractors (drillers, remedial contractors, utility locators, etc.), laboratories, and federal/state government officials.

You will partner with our management teams to customize your individual career path through a variety of professional development and mentoring activities as you pursue your Professional Engineering licensure and/or similar certifications.

Applicants will have an option to sit in either our Raynham, MA or Peabody, MA office locations. Regardless of office, please note that a portion of initial training activities will be performed in-person in the Raynham office.



Qualifications

    B.S. in Civil/Environmental/Chemical Engineering, Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, or related field required from ABET accredited undergraduate program preferred, M.S. is a plus;
  • 0-2 years' experience; or a relevant combination of experience and education;
  • Engineering Intern (EI) or Geologist in Training (GIT) is a plus;
  • The ability to participate in field work;
  • Introductory understanding of federal and state environmental regulations;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite and Adobe Acrobat (or similar);
  • Interest in Oil & Gas, Mining, Power, Solid Waste, and Manufacturing markets;
  • Ability to learn electronic data management systems, OpenGround, and ArcGIS;
  • Ability to learn quicky and problem solve in a professional setting;
  • Excellent communication skills (speaking and writing); and
  • Ability to work outdoors and lift up to 20-lbs.
