(FSW) performs assigned duties throughout Joint Venture Rehabilitation Hospital. The Hospital Food Service Worker (FSW) may work in various areas of the Rehabilitation Hospital.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Effective communications with patient-care units, visitors, and staff
  • Must be cognizant of and promote excellent customer service by demonstrating a caring and interested manner, creating an environment in which customers and co-workers feel valued and respected
  • Must be able to work in any area of assignment
  • Must have knowledge of sanitation and food safety standards.
  • Cashiering duties as assigned
  • Cafe duties as assigned
  • Tray line duties as assigned
  • Host duties as assigned
  • Diet Kitchen duties as assigned
  • Catering duties as assigned
  • Patient Menu Choices duties as assigned
  • Cold Production/Pantry duties as assigned
  • Dish room and Pot room duties as assigned
  • Storeroom duties as assigned
  • Safety and Sanitation Responsibilities
  • Quality Control Responsibilities

Minimum Qualifications

  • Customer service experience working directly with customers
  • Understand and exhibit excellent customer service by demonstrating a caring and interested manner, creating an environment in which customers and co-workers feel valued and respected
  • Exhibit ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions in English
  • Ability to work in a diverse team environment
  • Skill to use basic mathematical calculations and read a digital scale, operate a cash register, and count cash
  • Ability to check computer on-line schedule, email as needed, complete mandatory on-line training/testing
  • Understand basic diet, nutrition, and menu terminology
  • Ability to work in an environment with very sick patients
  • Ability to work independently without direct supervision while maintaining desired quality and quantity of work

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated recent experience in Food Service

Department Description

The primary purpose of the Joint Venture Rehabilitation Hospital is to provide a full range of rehabilitation services designed to restore patients to their optimal functional capacity. The hospital is a 52-bed rehabilitation hospital on the Sacramento medical center campus. It is equipped with leading-edge amenities and adaptive units where patients can practice typical activities of daily living. The rehabilitation hospital also includes a 12-bed brain injury unit and four private rooms for bariatric patients.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Must be willing and able to work variable shifts (including graveyard, weekends & holidays), hours, and to rotate to various units/buildings/areas to meet the operational needs of the Department

  • This position is a critical position and subject to a background check and drug screen. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of background investigation including criminal history, identity checks and drug screen.
