Business Unit Description:

Partnerships with key surgeon consultants help provide advanced and proprietary patented solutions, including EMPOWR 3D Knee, the only dual-pivot knee system on the market, and AltiVate Reverse Shoulder, a market-leading system, based on the design principles of the RSP Shoulder, which has demonstrated excellent clinical outcomes at 10 years.

Enovis Surgical offers surgeons and their patients a full range of primary and revision implants for hip, knee, shoulder, and elbow reconstructive joint surgeries, in addition to the tools and digital health technology needed in today's changing healthcare environment.

Job Title/High Level Position Summary:

The Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Manager will collaborate with the Site Leadership Team to prepare, implement, sustain, and continually improve our culture, policies, programs, procedures, trainings, and other initiatives which ensure a safe, healthy, and environmentally conscious work environment. We need a strong EHS professional who can hit the ground running, lead us through obtaining OSHA Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) status in the next 2-3 years, and help us strengthen our focus on behavior-based safety. The EHS Manager will report directly to the V.P. of Manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with leadership to prepare, and implement effective and sustainable policies, programs, procedures, trainings, and site initiatives.

  • Identifies compliance gaps and prioritizes work based upon compliance, risk, and severity.

  • Maintains EHS programs, permits and associated training records (EAP, LOTO, JHA, HAZCOM, Hearing Conservation, Respiratory Protection, 300 logs etc.), environmental (storm water, wastewater, air), and hazardous waste (Small Quantity Generator).

  • Prepares and submits regulatory reports and notifications associated with various regulatory agencies (EPCRA, TCEQ, Austin Water, City of Austin, OSHA, and EPA).

  • Manages internal and external EHS Compliance and Risk Assessment Audits, associated action plans, and conducts periodic spot checks to ensure sustainment.

  • Manages the EHS KPIs and Departmental Safety Orientation Training Programs.

  • Conducts new hire orientations and performs daily Gemba walks.

  • Manages EHS financials (budget, PO/requisition/invoicing) and provides support to the site with respect to recommending and ordering certain EHS supplies.

  • Works with EHS consultants on complex compliance issues in a timely and cost-effective manner.

  • Coordinates emergency drills and trainings with Site leadership (fire, tornado, spill, medical).

  • Manages data collection used for ESG reporting, Industrial Hygiene studies, machine guarding risk assessments, and ergonomic risk assessments.

  • Provides leadership, technical, and administrative support to the Safety Committee and Medical Response Team.

  • Leads incident investigations using root cause analysis and teamwork to ensure corrective actions are effective, agreed upon, and sustained.

  • Drafts incident investigation summaries for Site Leadership, Corporate EHS, and internal communication for awareness raising purposes.

  • Manages access, training, and database for EHS software (Dakota & MSDS Online).

  • Stops operations and activities that could harm employees or equipment.

  • Manufacturing is a 24/7 operation; must be available to support emergency event response and night and weekend work.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Basic Qualifications:

  • Excellent leadership qualities.

  • Extremely collaborative.

  • Extensive knowledge of environmental, health, and safety regulations and policies.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Project management and resource planning.

  • Proficient in technology and equipment used in environmental inspections.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Engineering, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or Safety-related discipline.

  • Minimum five years of related experience.

Travel Requirements:

  • <10%

Physical Requirements:

  • Physically able to conduct inspections and carry equipment used for inspections.

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Experience working in a medical device manufacturing environment.

  • OSHA VPP experience.

  • CSP, GSP, ASP, OHST, CHMM, CIH.
