Who we are looking for:

We are currently searching for a Certified Welder to be based out of Kokomo, IN. Reporting to the Manufacturing Supervisor, this person will be responsible for performing skilled MIG & TIG welding operations for fabrication and structural welds.

What you'll do:

Welder's responsibilities include, but are not limited to:



  • Adherence to Atkore Safety / Life Saving Rules is paramount, including Lock-Out, Tag-Out (LOTO), Machine Guarding/Bypassing Safety Controls, and Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) safety protocols
  • Ensure Safety, Delivery, Quality, and Cost metrics are met daily
  • Perform skilled MIG & TIG welding technique
  • Operate an Angle Grinder to prepare parts for welding and to touch up surface defects
  • Must perform welding operations in accordance with set specifications and configuration
  • Ability to interpret specifications and read blueprints
  • Must select the appropriate weld fixture based on the weld design
  • Set components for welding according to specifications to ensure safe and effective assemblage
  • Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method needed based on the requirements of the job
  • Determine weld amperage and wire feed/speed needed to perform the weld
  • Determine correct gas ratios needed to perform the weld
  • Responsible for assessing welded surfaces, structures, and components to ensure weld accuracy and identify weld errors
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot when adjustments are needed
  • Replace wire, filters, and gas cradles as needed
  • Ensure all equipment being used is properly set up and used in a safe manner
  • Must perform First-Piece Inspection, as well as all required subsequent inspections
  • Ensure quality standards are met for parts produced; notify appropriate support for nonconforming parts
  • Must maintain production standards to meet internal and external customer demand
  • Responsible for meeting and/or exceeding hourly rate goals
  • Responsible for completing the Hour-by-Hour board(s) for the duration of shift
  • Responsible for following the Order Board process to ensure on-time delivery
  • Responsible for the accurate completion of all paperwork, transactions, tags, etc.


What You'll bring:



  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Weld Certification
  • Ability to read a tape measure
  • Basic math and verbal skills
  • Must follow all safety rules and regulations and PPE requirements
  • Ability to learn to use and maintain equipment and machinery
  • Ability to follow standard work processes and operate with a continuous improvement mindset
  • Flexibility of shift scheduling, to include overtime and weekends
  • Ability to squat, bend and lift
  • Ability to stand and work a 10-hour shift in a non-climate-controlled manufacturing environment

  • Must possess a positive attitude, be a team player, and have strong work ethic

    • Complete required training
    • Developed good communication skills to apply strong manufacturing guidelines with a strategic planning focus
    • Be well-versed in Atkore's Business System and the importance of your role to daily operations
