PRIME AE Group, Inc. (www.primeeng.com), a multi-faceted and rapidly growing A/E firm with 16 office locations in nine states and over 475+ employees throughout the Midwest, Mid-Atlantic, Southeast, and Northeast, is seeking a self-motivated and detail-oriented Project Engineer for our Transportation Group in the Baltimore, Maryland office.

Position Overview:

The primary focus of this position is to serve as the Project Engineer on the design of bridge projects within the Bridge/Structures Design Division.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform preliminary and final designs required to develop bridge engineering and other transportation projects. Work experience in new and rehabilitation design; analyses of existing and new structures; load ratings.
  • Develop reports, plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Actively participate in the management and oversight of work by Design Engineers and Engineering Technicians.
  • Assist in the development of scope and person-hour estimates for various bridge design and related transportation projects.
  • Assist in the tracking of project schedules and progress.
  • Perform Quality Control checks and oversee the preparation of detailed engineering designs.
  • Develop and mentor the bridge engineering skillsets of junior and entry level design engineers.
  • Participate in condition evaluation of bridges/structures.
  • Crucial to this position is an emphasis on unwavering professionalism with clients, staff and subconsultants.

Minimum Requirements:

  • BSCE (required) or MSCE (preferred)
  • Maryland PE registration strongly preferred.
  • 10 years minimum progressive experience in a combination of bridge structural and foundation design and project management responsibilities.
  • Preliminary and Final design experience with MDOT projects, specifications, and guidelines required.
  • Experience in structural engineering for preservation and rehabilitation of bridges. VDOT, DCDOT experience is beneficial.
  • Experience in condition evaluation and load rating analysis of bridges.
  • Demonstrated experience with project related construction phase services and shop drawing review.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
  • NHI Training Certifications for NBIS Bridge inspections (beneficial).
