Job Summary

Loudoun County Public Library (LCPL) is offering collaborative, energetic, community-oriented leaders the opportunity to become the Head of Makerspace Services. This position will oversee the Makerspace department, supervise and evaluate staff, plan and conduct programs and ensure the daily delivery of high-quality makerspace services throughout the system. LCPL staff provide exceptional service that guides children, teens and adults in discovering information, ideas, knowledge and skills. They lead customers in understanding and making effective use of library resources and technology for learning, communication and entertainment. Successful candidates will develop and preserve effective relationships with staff, customers and the community as well as:

  • Foster a positive team whose performance and dedication are essential to the Library's mission.
  • Be passionate, creative team players with excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Be aware of emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in makerspaces and public library services.
  • Possess strong multi-tasking, organizational and technology skills.
LCPL provides services seven (7) days a week including Friday and Saturday nights. Work schedules vary and include weekends, evenings and holidays. This position will be based at the Rust Library and report to the Division Manager of Branch Services.

Hiring salary is commensurate with experience.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires a Master's degree in Library Science from an American Library Association accredited school and two (2) years of related library experience which must include one (1) year of experience in supervision.

  • Work requires ability to push or pull wheeled carts weighing up to 200 pounds.
  • Some bending, reaching, walking and standing required.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds required.
  • Ability to communicate ideas clearly, concisely and effectively, orally and in writing is required.
  • Spanish/English bilingual skills preferred.

Successful candidate will undergo a criminal, credit, and DMV record check.
