Job Description

TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE I, Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research (KI)-High Throughput Sciences (HTS), to play a foundational role at the interface of basic science research and automation to accelerate discoveries and shape the future of oncology. Responsibilities include independently performing bench experiments and aseptic cell culture techniques, including isolating cells from tissues, gene editing, and nanoparticle and small-molecule screening; coordinating specimen acquisition; maintaining inventory of lab supplies, reagents, and instruments; utilizing process management tools to track progress; performing statistical and multivariate analysis; assisting with transferring assays from bench to automated systems; ensuring compliance with safety standards and procedures; reporting on progress at internal and external meetings; training researchers and junior staff; and performing other duties as requested. May serve as an EHS representative. Duties may involve exerting light-to-medium force to move objects weighing 10-20 lbs.


Job Requirements

REQUIRED: bachelor's degree in cell biology, bioengineering, or related field; at least two years' lab experience (which may include experience gained as an undergraduate) in a related field; strong quantitative skills; comprehensive understanding of biological/chemical research and lab work; experience performing mammalian cell culture or functional genomics techniques; experience conducting literature searches; attention to detail; excellent communication skills; ability to collaborate as part of a team and teach others; and discretion and judgment with confidential information. PREFERRED: experience with cell transfections or electroporation, western blotting, ELISA, and immunofluorescence; and experience with data science tools such as R or Python. Job #24081
