  • Position Summary



    • Neuro & Interventional Radiology is specialized clinical work utilizing sophisticated imaging techniques for use in the evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of patients.




    • This is an entry level Angiography technologist position. The technologist has extensive training in digital rotational angiography, coned beam CT and 3d reconstruction. Work also includes quality control, safety, record keeping, monitoring and troubleshooting radiographic equipment. Independent work ethic with extensive knowledge of anatomy, patient positioning and aseptic scrub techniques are required.




    • T he Interventional Technologist will assist in routine diagnostic and highly complex invasive neuro and peripheral interventions. The technologist is also required to be competent in a wide variety of procedures referred by oncology, trauma, urology, gastroenterology and nephrology.




    • The IR technologist must follow established protocols and guidelines for use by physicians in diagnosis and treatment of pathologies. The IR technologist must maintain a smooth operational flow to ensure maximum patient volumes with consideration of patient safety. The IR technologist must provide 24 hour on call response on a rotating basis and report to the hospital within 30 minutes of the emergency call.




  • Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)



    • Education: Completion of a two year program of an ARRT approved school of Radiologic Technology.


    • License/Certifications: Must be licensed as a Radiologic Technologist through the state of Maine; Certification in Radiography with the ARRT required, BLS required. ACLS preferred.


    • Experience: Minimum two years acute care experience as an imaging technologist OR one year advanced modality imaging experience.


    • Ability to recognize and respond to patient emergency situations and allergic reactions to contrast.


    • Analytical ability to determine best method of providing requested imaging based on patients physical condition.
