Accountant/Financial Analyst


COMPANY DESCRIPTION:
Our client, a venture capital and private equity company located in San Francisco Bay Area is seeking a well-qualified Accountant or Financial Analyst to join their growing team.

LOCATION: South Bay Area

REMOTE/HYBRID/ON-SITE: Hybrid. The team is currently going into the office 2x per week.

Role Description:
You will be responsible for accounting and reporting within the Company and you may also have the opportunity to work on other facets of the business like tax, exit analysis, capitalization table modeling, etc.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Accounting - accurately prepare/review financial statements, close reporting packages, investment accounting, impairment analysis, reconciliations, and journal entries

  • Reporting - track data for investments and exits with precision and create/analyze fund and portfolio reporting

  • Process improvement - identify opportunities for process improvements/outsourcing and drive implementation of the solutions, with the opportunity to learn how to do this using SQL, Apps Script, etc.

  • Investment support - review portfolio company financial statements, review and create pro-forma capitalization tables and initiate funding wires. Work cross-functionally with the legal team to meet tight funding deadlines.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BA/BS degree in accounting, finance, business, or related area of study

  • 2-4 years of accounting experience, with a preference for venture capital or other asset management clients

  • Comfortable using G Suite tools and you may like to geek out on Excel like many of us on the team do

  • Dedicated to efficiency: you are enthusiastic about using technology to design scalable processes to support the Company's growth and you never assume the way we're doing work now is the best way to do it tomorrow.

  • Resourceful and comfortable with coordinated chaos and ambiguity: you are resourceful, love to solve problems and know when to ask the right questions. The Company is fast-paced so you're excited (or at least willing) to embrace change and uncertainty daily.

  • Precise: details matter and you strive to present work that is accurate and complete. You have a high bar for quality and take pride in what you do and how you do it.

  • A Confident Communicator: you tailor your communications to your audience and share information readily with your team. Over time you may confidently present to the team and all the way up to the highest levels.

  • Hungry to learn: you desire to gain expertise in many areas of finance and always ask what more you can do and learn when you've finished what's on your plate. You share what you've learned from your mistakes and you're comfortable with giving and receiving feedback.

  • Experienced: you're comfortable using G Suite tools and you may like to geek out on Excel like many of us on the team do.

COMPENSATION:
Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual's skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs. With that said, as required by local law, Vaco believes that the following salary range reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure: $110K-$115K + bonus + carry.
