ELECTION OFFICERS (EARLY VOTING)
CITY CLERK & ELECTIONS
CITY OF WORCESTER

The City of Worcester seeks qualified individuals to serve as temporary Election Officers for Early Voting in the Elections Office for the Office of the City Clerk. Under the direction of the City Clerk the positions will prepare and work at polling locations between August 24, 2024, and November 1, 2024. The Election Officers must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment; have the ability to lift, handle materials and equipment up to forty (40) pounds; and have the ability to stand and sit for prolonged periods of time.

Bilingual and multilingual applicants are encouraged to apply.

ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS:



  • Conduct daily open and close procedures for voting locations
  • Provide customer service and assist voters when necessary
  • Record election activities, check voters in and out via the electronic poll book, and count ballots
  • Ensure that election laws are followed
  • Perform related work as required


REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:



  • Thorough knowledge of business English, spelling and arithmetic
  • Ability to operate an IPad
  • Ability to exercise good judgment in making decisions in accordance with laws, ordinances, regulations, and established policies.
  • Possess excellent organizational, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with diverse populations

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:



  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experience in a customer service role
  • Must be a US Citizen and a registered voter


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Preference is given to Worcester residents


SALARY: $15.00 hourly, part-time, temporary, non-benefitted
