EMPLOYEE'S MUST RESIDE WITHIN THE CITY OF PEORIA

DEPARTMENT: POLICE DEPARTMENT
LOCATION: 600 SW Adams Street, Peoria, IL
HOURS: 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. - Monday through Friday


The purpose of this position is to provide a wide range of basic to moderate administrative work to support the Director and staff of the Co-Responder Social Services Unit. This is accomplished by: being responsible for the daily management of the Co-Responder Social Services unit (also known as Victim Services Unit). Performs work of moderate to complex difficulty involving typing, filing, data entry, answering telephones, developing and preparing reports, forms and documents utilizing a variety of computer programs as required by the various divisions. Performs other generalized clerical and administrative duties. Provides information to departmental staff and the general public; operates various office equipment, and other duties as assigned.

Examples of Duties

Administrative Support:
*Manages daily operations of the Co-Responder Social
Services Unit.
*Communicate with Co-Responder staff via email, telephone,
Microsoft Teams Chat, and Meetings.
*Provides basic to moderate administrative support to the
Director and staff
.*Greets clients and visitors in a professional manner.
*Answers telephone calls and directs inquiries appropriately.
*Coordinates meeting agendas and drafts meeting minutes.
*Ensures the facility is appropriately secured when staff are
not present.
Orders and manages office supplies inventory. Utilizing a purchasing card to purchase/order grant-related supplies and social service items.
Troubleshoots basic equipment issues.
Store and safeguard client documents containing sensitive information.

Scheduling and Coordination:
Coordinate calendars and manage the schedule of all staff within the Co-Responder Social Service Unit facility.
Assist in managing work shift schedules for social workers involved in co-responding with police officers for behavioral health, mental health, and crisis calls within the community.
Schedule client appointments for social workers to meet with and connect clients to social resources.
Perform other related scheduling duties as required.


Minimum Qualifications

One year certificate from an accredited college or technical school; over two years up to and including four years of progressively responsible related experience. Any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job considered.


Supplemental Information

Knowledge of correct English usage, including spelling, grammar, punctuation, and vocabulary; internal departmental policies and procedures; all computer applications and hardware related to performance of the essential functions of the job; standard business arithmetic, including percentages and decimals; and recordkeeping, report preparation, filing methods and records management techniques. Skill in typing from rough draft or printed text; analyzing and resolving office administrative situations and problems; using tact, discretion, initiative and independent judgment within established guidelines; researching, compiling and summarizing a variety of informational and statistical data and materials; and applying logical thinking to solve problems or accomplish tasks; to understand, interpret and communicate complicated policies, procedures and protocols. Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions, giving close attention to detail and accuracy; to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; to draft and type correspondence.
