Summary

Position Summary



  • Performs moderately complex administrative l duties independently in accordance with established departmental policies and procedures. Work includes typing medical reports, laboratory procedures, non-routine correspondence, tables and forms. Proofreads and edits all materials for accuracy and clarity. Work is planned and occasionally checked by supervisor. Sets up meetings and maintains the schedules for Chief of Pathology, Hospital Division Operations Manager and others as directed. Discretion and judgment is required in screening visitors and telephone calls, editing materials, releasing information, dealing with patient inquiries and organizing own workload to meet established priorities.


Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)



  • Education: Completion of high school or equivalent education preferred, and one year of business school or related field required.
  • License/Certifications: N/A
  • Experience: Working knowledge of medical terminology is desirable.
  • Proficient at spreadsheet software (e.g. Excel), word processing software (e.g., Word) and presentation software (e.g. Power Point) and should have knowledge of database software (e.g., Access).
  • Oral and written communication needs to be professional, clear and concise.
  • Ability to proofread and edit non-routine correspondence, reports, and tables for spelling, typographical errors and sentence structure.
  • Ability to type complex statistical tables and forms, non-routine correspondence and reports from rough draft or dictation.
  • Ability to perform non-complex arithmetic calculations when preparing bills and budgets and organize and maintain recordkeeping and filing systems.
  • Ability to operate and assist others in the use of, and perform basic troubleshooting with photocopiers, fax machines and computer printers.
  • Successfully demonstrates competencies in the position in accordance with the established assessment for the position.
  • Must be able to work any shift, holiday and/or weekend as needed.
  • Must be able to travel among company sites as needed.
