Introduction

The Loudoun County Office of Elections and Voter Registration is seeking an Outreach & Communication Specialist to join our team!

Our office manages all federal, state, and local elections for the voters of Loudoun County, and is dedicated to ensuring that all eligible voters have the right to cast their vote safely, securely, and efficiently. Job Summary

Providing accurate and timely information to the voters of Loudoun County is one of the core functions of the Office of Elections. The Outreach & Communication Specialist will connect directly with the citizens of Loudoun County by being out in the community assisting voters with questions about voter registration and elections.

The Outreach & Communication Specialist will create, coordinate and implement outreach programs that serve the voters of Loudoun County and will be responsible for creating and maintaining voter education materials that are used on office and county social media channels. This position will assist with management of the office social media channels and be responsible for maintaining the office website and ensuring compliance with legal requirements concerning the public notice of upcoming elections, meetings, and other office activities. Additionally, this position will assist with creation and/or review of staff and election officer training materials and after election reports, assist with meetings of the electoral board, assist with coordination of Freedom of Information Act requests, and serve as an advisor to staff on issues pertaining to their area of expertise.

The ideal candidate would possess a strong desire to serve the public, have excellent customer service skills, be detail oriented and thorough, be able to communicate effectively with a wide range of constituencies verbally and in writing, and be able to function in a fast paced and sometimes rapidly changing environment. The chosen candidate will also have experience with office computer software and hardware including Microsoft Office and have experience with common social media platforms (Facebook, X, Instagram). Experience with elections or voting, specifically in Virginia, is preferred.

Hiring salary commensurate with experience.


Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or related field and one year of related work experience; or a combination of education and experience is required. Must be a resident of and registered voter in the Commonwealth of Virginia.


Job Contingencies and Special Requirements

Criminal, credit, and DMV background checks are required. All staff in the Office of Elections are required to work overtime around elections and this may include evenings and weekends as needed.
