Job Summary

Loudoun County's Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Services is currently seeking qualified applicants for a full-time Building Services Coordinator for the Ashburn Recreation and Community Center (scheduled to open in 2025)! Under the general direction of the operations manager, coordinates assigned recreation center operations for the department. This position schedules program events; coordinates use of facilities; oversees related expenses; provides information about activities; oversees staff and volunteers; and provides additional program support as needed.

This position requires continual direction and oversight of recreation center operations. A successful candidate will be able to communicate, solve problems, adapt to changing situations, think critically, and work as a team. PRCS serves a diverse population including but not limited to youth, adults, individuals with disabilities, and seniors.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinates recruitment, hiring, and training of recreation center staff and front desk supervisor; ensures staff follow County policies and procedures.
  • Ensures collection of program fees, bills leagues and teams for league and tournament entries, rentals, facility attendant hours, school use fees, and custodial services.
  • Demonstrates compliance with County, Department, and Division policies and procedures, and federal/state laws and regulations, as applicable to position.
  • Provides courteous and timely customer service to County staff, vendors, citizens, and other visitors; refers customers to appropriate staff.
  • Provides performance direction, feedback, mentoring, coaching, and training to staff; promotes teamwork and collaboration; and reviews timesheets for accuracy.
  • Assists with training coworkers; explains program policies and procedures.
  • Uses department registration software; schedules facilities; creates classes; completes registrations; and collects fees using software.
  • Oversees customer service and administrative support of front desk operations. Ensures policies and procedures of facility are followed. Maintains staffing schedules.
  • Ensures daily cash receipt reconciliation is performed accurately and cash transmittals are submitted by deadline.
  • Assists customers of the Center with class registrations, payments, room scheduling, and other needs in accordance guidelines.
  • May perform other essential job functions specific to the position and department assignment.

Work schedule varies following operational hours and may include weekday, evening, and weekend hours.

Hiring salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate degree in a related field and two (2) years related work experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Experience in a supervisory role.
  • CPRP certification or equivalent.
  • Membership and involvement in related professional organization(s).
  • Bi-lingual skills including English.

Job Contingencies and Special Requirements

Criminal background check required. A credit check and/or a DMV check are required. For DMV check, valid driver's license and good driving record required (driving records may be reviewed annually for continued qualification).

Additional requirements include: TB test within 30 days of hire & hold or obtain First Aid/CPR/AED certifications at hire or within three (3) months. Some programs may have additional legal requirements, credentials, or certifications to meet prior to hire or within the probationary period and/or annually.
