The Administrative Assistant II position is a non-exempt, civilian position within the Peoria Police Department. This position will work four, ten-hour shifts, Monday through Thursday at the Public Safety Administration Building located on the Peoria City Hall Campus.

This position performs the following tasks:



  • Handles various aspects of accounts payable, such as processing purchase requisitions, purchase orders and check requests through the City's financial program, PeopleSoft.
  • Reviews incoming invoices to ensure accuracy and receipts them properly.
  • Places orders for department products or services.
  • Ensures proper procurement requirements and maintains an understanding of the current rules.
  • Adheres to the City's Pro-card policies and procedures and reconciles cards monthly.
  • Manages travel/training logistics, coordinates registrations, per diem, books travel, local and out-of-town for the department.
  • Effectively communicates with all levels of command.
  • Additional duties, as assigned.


Overall, this role requires someone with a keen eye for detail, strong organizational abilities, proficiency in financial processes and software, and the capacity to effectively manage various administrative tasks within a law enforcement setting.

The ideal candidate for this position will have:



  • A strong foundation in accounts payable processes and travel arrangement logistics.
  • Experience in processing diverse payables for multiple divisions.
  • The ability to manage travel and training logistics efficiently, to ensure staff training levels remain excellent.
  • Adaptability to frequently changing tasks, ability to balance multiple priorities and maintain clear communication.
  • The ability to effectively manage time and resources to accomplish goals and objectives and is eager to advance the Department.
  • The ability to balance working independently with collaborating as a unit and has demonstrated building positive relationships.
  • Advanced computer proficiency and skill in PeopleSoft.
  • A passion for law enforcement and making a positive impact on the community, as well as a commitment to teamwork and delivering excellent customer service.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:



  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Experience: 2 to 4 years of related experience in the same or similar field
  • Licenses/Certifications: Full Police Background, including a polygraph test
