Manager, Automation Technology

Position Summary

The Manager, Automation Technology will provide oversight and strategic direction for the Bank's Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) deployment pipeline and automation platforms to ensure secure, efficient and consistent delivery of Bank processes. This role will oversee a variety of automation services needed for the delivery of software and technology platforms to support the Bank's current operations and technology strategy.

Primary Success Factors

  • Hands-on technical management required to lead and develop a highly technical team; managing staff, scope of work, objectives, and quality of deliverables to deliver risk-appropriate, resilient technology that meets and exceeds operational requirements.

  • Actively advance culture of automation with team and across the organization promoting collaboration and innovation including interfacing with Enterprise Architecture, security teams and stakeholders in software development and business solutions.

  • Leads projects and adheres to the Bank's governance and project management standards to effectively implement and maintain technology initiatives.

  • Maintains industry knowledge and trends in the areas of automation and continuous build/continuous integration pipeline and recommends appropriate strategic initiatives for adoption. Evaluates technology, leads proof of concepts and evaluations through final recommendation, including hands-on execution where needed

  • Leads the development, design, integration and, at times, execution for CI/CD build deployment pipeline and automation platforms.

  • Provide technical leadership with business aptitude in the creation of automation playbooks to improve efficiencies for Bank processes throughout the organization.

  • Responsible for the support, monitoring, maintenance, and secure operations of the CI/CD tools and platforms at the Bank as well as third-party plug-in support for the build pipeline.

  • Responsible for the security, monitoring, maintenance, and efficient deployment of Bank software and capabilities to maximize effectiveness for the Bank's technology stack.

  • Provides subject matter expertise on project working teams that introduce new capabilities and technologies to ensure that new processes, development, and deployment activities are automated and efficiently deployed.

  • Responsible for the development and maintenance of technical documents (procedures, policies, and architecture diagrams) specific to Bank deployment and automation practices.

  • Responsible for key technology infrastructure resources, including CI/CD build and deployment and automation.

  • Responsible for hands-on technical execution of tasks, as well as oversight and management of day-to-day support functions including needs assessment, priority-setting and the delivery of project results including resources, timelines, workload planning and budgets.

  • Ensures compliance with applicable policies, procedures, and regulations to ensure safe and sound business operations.

Required Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science or related field

  • Five to ten years of technical IT experience with at least one year in a technical management role or at least seven years of experience in a lead technical role with leadership training

  • Strong working knowledge of VPN, MFA, and IAM security concepts

  • Knowledge of software packing tools (.exe, Docker, etc.)

  • Knowledge of programming languages (YAML, Groovy, shell, bash etc.)

  • Strong working knowledge of microservice architecture and deployment practices, software packing tools, version control tools and security/vulnerability tools

  • Knowledge of cloud platforms and architecture

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Strong service orientation to deliver quality-focused outcomes

  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills

  • Knowledge of IT service management processes and business change control processes

  • Strong proficiency in automating and optimizing processes

  • Strong working knowledge of complex technical concepts (software development, systems integration, automation, system/application architecture)
