As part of Detection and Measurement, CUES is the world's leading developer of water, wastewater, and storm water inspection equipment. With CCTV cameras, pre-built vehicles, and software for pipeline inspection and rehabilitation, we improve the safety and reliability of our water infrastructure systems.

How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)

SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. As a Field Service Technician for our Pipeline Inspection business, you will perform various field functions including mobile service and troubleshooting, ID support for retrofits, warranty repairs and service, and training for both specialized and new equipment. Tasks may also include sales support including product demonstration assistance, show attendance, and IT support.

What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)

While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:

1. Field & Training Support:



  • Collect field and organization data across several different equipment platforms utilizing a variety of different sensor types including video, LiDAR, SONAR, and gyroscopic.
  • Train and supervise field crews in proper application and use of our data collection technologies and support systems.
  • Support data processing needs
  • Maintain and repair systems when necessary and support in cleaning, crating, and shipping those systems to relevant work sites.
  • Review and enforce safety protocols to ensure compliance with regulations and minimize risk to technicians and customers in the field.



2. Continuous Improvement:



  • Improve standard operating procedures (SOPs) for common tasks and troubleshooting procedures to ensure consistency and efficiency in delivery of services.
  • Foster a culture of improvement by improving process and encouraging proactive problem-solving among those working in the field.
  • Continually update technical skills and knowledge through workshops and certification programs relevant to required expertise.
  • Participate in other duties as assigned



What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)

We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:

Required Experience



  • Proficiency in Windows PCs and programs including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Willing and available to travel. Valid driver's license is required.
  • Must have good communications skills and work well within a group dynamic.
  • Basic knowledge of electro-mechanical systems, diagnostics, and repair.
  • Strong communication skills and works well within various group dynamics.



Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities



  • Experience with SQL server databases, Linux, Google Sheets, digital video, SONAR, and LiDAR data collection is a plus.
  • Previous experience and interest working in a field environment with customers.



Education & Certifications



  • Two year technical degree or equivalent industry experience.
  • Will be asked to complete confined space entry and NASSCO certifications if necessary.



Travel & Working Environment



  • Days and hours vary but typically a standard 40-hour work week.
  • Most work is performed in a field environment.
  • Travel may be extensive at times with frequent overnight travel required to perform required duties.
