Position Announcement

Responsible for campus event set-ups and take-downs, building maintenance, security and supervising part-time employees working the day shift within the Gardner Student Center (typically 6:30 AM - 3:30PM). This position works in tandem with the Guest Services Evening Supervisor on event coordination.


Responsibilities

  • Coordinate scheduling of building regularly to assure the set-up and take-down of events occurs in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate day set-ups and take-downs within Guest Services, which includes chair/table/room, setup, audio-visual needs, etc.
  • Coordinate with the student council and clubs to meet the needs of various student activities in the Gardner Center and on-campus.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with university students, staff, and the public.
  • Responsible for keeping up with current audio-visual technology.
  • Responsible for maintenance and repair of all Gardner Center equipment.
  • Supervise, train, hire, and help schedule all day shift part-time employees hired to meet the needs of the Guest Services area.
  • Responsible for building security and opening procedures.
  • Fill out daily reports, which include maintenance needs, customer counts, and incident reports.
  • Work with Student Government, Dining Services, and the Campus Store for building maintenance, as needed. Work with Event Services and other departments on campus for event needs.
  • Work early morning hours or weekends, as needed to accommodate scheduled events.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/equivalent GED required.
  • At least one (1) year related experience in Guest Services, Event Services, Facilities Management, etc. required.
  • Good supervisory skills, with the ability to work with student employees.
  • Knowledge and experience in student centers, bookstores and food services preferred.
  • Knowledge of custodial services, including equipment and procedures.
  • Service oriented: able to work with a variety of people and situations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to exercise important human relations skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with college students, employees, and the public.
  • Ability to use a personal computer and other office equipment.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • Ability to maintain emotional control under stress.
  • Ability to raise or lower an object from one level to another (includes upward pulling) of over 50 lbs. A lift test will be required if offered employment.
  • Ability to perform strenuous walking, standing and climbing.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle and forklift.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying climate conditions.

Supplemental Information

POSITION DETAILS, COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: Full-time non-exempt staff (overtime-eligible) position. Annual salary of $36,000+ depending on qualifications and experience. Desired start date of August 2024.
