JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: QA/QC Supervisor
Work Location: Franklin Park, IL
Department: Manufacturing
X Full-time Part-Time X Exempt Non-Exempt
Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervises and coordinates activities of quality control technicians engaged in quality assurance and quality control inspection for Blow Molding / Injection Molding plastic products.
  • Reviews production schedules and work orders and assigns duties to quality technicians according to order priorities in the Quality Department.
  • Strong production floor presence.
  • Studies quality control reports to identify product defects and directs quality technicians to make calls to place products on hold, stop production lines, or remove products from hold.
  • Work with quality technicians, production supervisors, and the engineering team to verify quality products are being produced.
  • Overseas and supervise inbound and outbound quality inspection processes.
  • Work with peer quality and production supervisors to oversee and manage supplier quality processes and scorecard outcomes.
  • Provide quality training to all departments within the manufacturing plant (shipping and receiving/materials and production).
  • Monitor Franklin Park production lines and conduct periodic Quality Control checks.
  • Implement improvements to production processes that lead to overall increases in product quality.
  • Work together with product project leaders to discuss solutions to quality issues.
  • Satisfy customer expectations about the product's quality.
  • Complying with ISO accreditation requirements including registration and audits.
  • Audit materials provided by suppliers to assure quality before incorporation into the product.
  • Assess the product's quality by testing for a range of features and observing how it performs under stresses such as impact, temperature, humidity, etc.
  • Investigate causes of quality problems and propose solutions.
  • Utilize extensive knowledge of the product's inner workings to diagnose problems.
  • Continue education on newly developing Quality Control techniques.
  • Document policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Develop Acceptable Quality Levels (AQL) for each product offering.
  • Participate in new product/process reviews.
  • Conducts or directs training of new employees in machine operation.
  • Confers with management and other supervisors to resolve production problems.
  • Maintains a safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points, equipment, and resources, maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Resolve personnel problems by analyzing data, investigating issues, identifying solutions, and recommending action.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Ensure a safe work environment for all employees through company-directed safety programs, compliance with OSHA and other regulatory requirements, and promotion of a strong preventative safety culture.
  • Other related duties as required.


Education and Work Experience Requirements

  • 4+ years of lead or quality supervisory for Blow molding / Injection Molding products.
  • Prior leadership experience is required.
  • The preferred candidate will have experience with the structured quality control stage gate process.
  • Expertise in ISO/TS types of quality systems is required.
  • The candidate must have demonstrated quality leadership and people management skills and exhibit strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Candidate must be able to influence team dynamics regarding quality goals, deliver constructive feedback, and provide quality leadership in a cross-functional environment.
  • Must have a general knowledge of appropriate manufacturing quality assurance and control methods, processes, and equipment.
  • Mechanically inclined with the ability to roll up your sleeves to help get the job done.
  • Strong leadership skills, including a demonstrated ability to supervise and manage others, foster open communication, and support an environment of high growth and innovation.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills are a must. The candidate must have experience with typical quality gauges and instrumentation plus understand engineering drawings. Proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint is expected.
  • Preferred candidate will have experience in Lean/Six Sigma tools and manufacturing techniques.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to convey product information and availability to customers.
  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with customers.
  • Self-starter and self-motivated.
  • Ability to work as a team player.
  • Willingness to work overtime as required.


Physical Requirements

  • Will sit, stand, or walk distances for up to 12 hours per day.
  • Will climb stairs on an occasional basis.
  • Will lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry, or feel objects on a frequent basis
  • 20/40 vision in each eye, with or without correction, is required
  • Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures
  • May reach above shoulder height and below the waist on a frequent basis.
  • May stoop, kneel, or bend, on an occasional basis.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to, steel-toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, protective jacket or apron, and arm guards)
