School for Social Work Job Description

Essential Functions

  • This position is responsible for department leadership
  • Develop a clear vision and strategy of professional education programs, including technical assistance contracts to meet revenue targets
  • Advise the dean of the School for Social Work (SSW) on all matters related to professional education.
  • Lead and manage operations, overseeing short and long-term planning, policies, and procedures.

Program Leadership (50%)

  • Design, plan, coordinate, and implement a comprehensive professional education program, establishing target goals for monthly and annual achievement.
  • Develop professional education policies and protocols, collaborating with other departments such as alumni relations, events, and information management to
  • standardize and modernize department systems.
  • Maintain planning and coordination for all professional education programs, including course offerings, faculty assignments, dates/times/locations, and facilities coordination.
  • Ensure protocols and related materials to support faculty hiring and student registration.
  • Coordinate the administration of exit surveys, analyze findings, and recommend new courses/programs.
  • Work with senior administration to ensure coordination with the SSW curriculum and manage department budget and fundraising efforts.
  • Provide administrative management to post graduate certificate programs and supervise certificate program directors.
  • Coordinate activities such as meetings, reports, and schedules.
  • Develop funding proposals and plan, market, and implement programs in professional education.
  • Identify, recruit, and orient nationally recognized instructors and manage project schedules to meet deadlines.
  • Manage instructors for continuing education in both face-to-face and online environments.

Compliance Management (15%)

  • Remain current on standards, record keeping, and regulatory, state licensing, copyright, and other compliance requirements.

Marketing Strategist (20%)

  • Assist the SSW and Smith Communications offices in their development of a strategy and content for external communications and marketing materials.
  • Oversee maintenance and procurement of mailing lists and website content.
  • Collaborate with relevant college offices to improve efficiency and effectiveness through system solutions.
  • Provide effective supervision and task management of administrative support staff.

Supervision of Support Staff (15%)

Other Functions

Other duties as assigned (5%)

Minimum Qualifications (knowledge, skills, education, experience, certifications, licenses)

Master's degree in social work education or graduate degree in education with other relevant experience. Experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds; demonstrated commitment to SSW's Five Principles

Preferred Qualifications
Experience in clinical social work or human services required and in higher education preferred.

Skills
Experience in developing and implementing successful credit, non-credit, and certificate programs in areas relevant to clinical social work,
workforce/career development, professional development, and anti-racism practice. Facility with educational technology. Experience in budget
development, staff supervision, educational planning, and online pedagogy preferred. Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends to
oversee courses, manage registration, and attend Departmental and/or School meetings and special events.
