Position Summary

Dallas College is seeking an experienced Facilities Manager with a proven track record of planning, implementing, evaluating, and organizing facilities management activities in a dynamic higher education environment. The Facilities Manager will oversee the operation and maintenance of the physical plant at one of the Dallas College campuses or support buildings. In doing so, the Facilities Manager will help to ensure all applicable federal, state and Dallas College Board of Trustees laws, regulations, policies and procedures are strictly adhered to.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of the purpose of community colleges and the vision of Dallas College.

  • Experience with CMMS generated work orders.

  • Experience with overseeing both preventative and predictive maintenance.

  • Strong background in building services trades: electrical, mechanical, fire and security systems, plumbing, custodial, carpentry, painting, roofing, welding, HVAC controls, and locksmith.

  • Basic understanding of procurement methods to include cooperative purchases, formal bids, RFPs and RFQs.

  • Experience with energy management principles.

  • Able to read blueprints and schematic drawings.

  • Ability to oversee a facilities management budget.

  • Excellent time management, organizational and problem-solving skills and the ability to respond appropriately to issues in a rapidly changing educational/economic environment.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing with stakeholders and constituents, internal/external to the Dallas College community network.

Physical Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associates Degree or higher plus five (5) years of related experience with three (3) years of supervisory experience, or ten (10) years of related experience with five (5) years of supervisory experience.

  • Official transcripts required.

  • Must have a current and valid Texas driver's license.

  • Demonstrated experience in facilities management activities, fiscal management, resource allocation and personnel supervision.

  • Bilingual preferred.

  • ***Will be subject to a criminal background check. Some positions may be subject to a fingerprint check.***

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the highest quality of facilities management efforts across assigned areas.

  • Assist in the successful execution of assigned budget.

  • Asist with construction related projects, as necessary.

  • Assist in maintaining construction building standards.

  • Direct the daily activities of crafts and trades, custodial services, landscape and grounds, and general maintenance services.

  • Create and maintain relationships with stakeholder and constituents to guarantee customer service and promote the overall mission of the Facilities Management department.

  • Ensure facilities management efforts are consistent and equitable.

  • Meet applicable facilities management KPIs.

  • Provide safe and healthy buildings for Dallas College students, faculty and staff.

  • Support change management activities related to process improvements including training, communication, and obtaining buy in from stakeholders.

  • Responsible for enhancing organizational efficiency and by managing projects including cost management process improvement, workflow and quality improvement, and strategic initiatives.

  • Completes required Dallas College professional development training hours per academic year.

  • Performs other job duties as requires.
