Job Summary

This position will be responsible for advanced analytical support, high level strategic planning, SAS programming, collaborating with internal/external teams, project management, accountability for the operational effectiveness and efficiency of the Academic Scheduling and Data Analytics department to achieve Dallas College's mission and goals. Primarily work at Dallas College locations with the flexibility to hybrid work upon the approval of the leadership.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Capable of independently ensuring operational effectiveness in the Academic Scheduling and Data Analytics department to fulfill Dallas College's mission.

  • Proficient in utilizing various quantitative and qualitative methods to analyze data for key initiatives, adept at managing multiple projects seamlessly in a fast-paced environment.

  • Quickly adapt to new policies, technologies, and methodologies to enhance efficiency and outcomes, providing strategic direction and demonstrating expertise in predictive modeling, data visualization, and communication skills.

Physical Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, Business Analytics, Information System, or closely related field with an emphasis on data visualization tools, SAS programming, research design, data modeling, data mining, and advanced analytics reporting.

  • Official transcripts required.

  • Ability to occasionally work extended hours beyond the regular 8:00 am to 5:00 pm workdays, especially during heavy registration peak times including nights and weekends to meet priority deadlines.

  • Two (2) or more years demonstrated expertise in strong SAS skill, SQL skill, PowerBI dashboard, Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Power Automate, Power Apps, Access, PowerPoint, etc.), SharePoint are required.One (1) or more years of experience in Workday/ Ad Astra Scheduling software/ Boomi/ Edify (EAB) and work-related experience in higher education is preferred.

  • SAS Certificate(s), other statistical applications/tools (R or Python), and previous experience with utilizing analytical tools such as SAS Enterprise Guide, SAS Enterprise Miner, SAS Visual Analytics are STRONGLY preferred.

  • Bilingual preferred.

Key Responsibilities

  • Functions as a business analytics analyst, SAS programmer, and report developer.

  • Collaborates internally with the data owners (Schedule Management team and other teams) to establish the Quality Control database which improves accuracy of data entered and stored in the centralized database.

  • Communicates data issues and identifies the solutions to correct those issues in a timely manner.

  • Works on creating, modifying, validating, and publishing ad-hoc and ongoing reports.

  • Provides timely, relevant, accurate, insightful ongoing data support and strategic research needs of the Academic Services Division.

  • Utilizes technical expertise to collect quantitative data (including exporting and importing large/ complex data sets) from various systems and platforms for analysis, interpretation, inferring data relationships to support strategic decision making and to aid in the implementation of academic scheduling initiatives.

  • Consults with stakeholders on their reporting and analytics needs, identify, design, develop useful metrics, and execute predictive models, dashboards, standard reports, complex statistical models (using SAS and/or R) and other projects designed to support a variety of business initiatives.

  • Provides executive summaries and data visualizations to quickly communicate meaning of analysis to Academic leadership in a clear and concise manner including implementation strategies.

  • Provides necessary training to internal/external stakeholders on data interpretation, data evaluation, statistical and analytical techniques.

  • Collaborates with leadership and/or stakeholders regarding efficient ways to proactively improve organizational processes and outcomes by being objective, fairly evaluating different components and aspects of a situation, maintaining a balance between the goals of the organization and promote the best interest of all stakeholders.

  • Manages several projects simultaneously, while organizing and prioritizing work based on shifting and complex requests and deadlines.

  • Routinely draws upon historic context to independently make strategic decisions, including identifying stakeholders and conducting fact finding prior to escalation to leadership.

  • Is a proactive, innovative, detail oriented, and a strategic thinker.

  • Completes required Dallas College Professional Development training hours per academic year.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
