Nurse - PN Lab/Clinical Instructional Assistant

An Instructional Assistant in Nursing applies knowledge of nursing principles, procedures and techniques in assisting students with problems related to their assignments. General supervision comes from the Department Chair. Functional supervision is from instructional faculty and the lab coordinator.

Duties include the following:

* Assist students to perform nursing procedures in the lab settings. Sets up supplies and equipment and assists in conducting lab and classroom demonstrations.
* Ensure student compliance with lab policies, procedures, and safety precautions.
* Provide remedial instruction to students in the lab setting.
* Advise instructional staff of common problems encountered and progress made by students in the lab setting.
* Assist students in the operation of software such as Virtual Simulation, and the Electronic Health Records used in the lab.
* Maintain and make minor adjustments and repairs to instructional media and hospital equipment. Inform lab coordinator of major repairs.
* Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment as needed. Keep storerooms and working areas orderly and clean.
* Maintain records of student laboratory attendance and skills competencies.
* Proctor written and computerized examinations.
* Assist in the operations of the simulation laboratory.
* May be assigned to perform other duties in the Nursing Department during peak workload periods and in the absence of assigned staff.



Requires a minimum of a Bachelor's degree with a major in Nursing.

Must be a Registered Nurse with a current, valid, unrestricted license in the state of Ohio.

Requires Basic Life Support (BLS) certified through the American Heart Association.

Prefer teaching experience to be in a Practical Nursing Program. Will consider recent teaching experience in an education/staff development department.



Must be flexible to work during the week, evenings, or weekends.
