About the role


The Audio-Visual (AV) Technician will work as part of a team to set up and run the sound and video equipment used to conduct live events such as meetings and public programs.
Responsibilities:


  • Fabricate, test, operate, troubleshoot, and maintain all audiovisual equipment used for museum exhibitions, live and online programming, and internal and public events, including panel discussions, musical and theatrical performances, presentations, film/video events, in-house meetings, and press events
  • Set up, and support public and internal programming, including meetings, events, and online panel discussions through Zoom conferencing software and online social media streaming services
  • Provide in-house production and create multimedia content by performing duties that include but are not limited to:


    • On-site and off-site filming and audio recording
    • Post-production editing and captioning on media for exhibitions and public events
    • Set up projections for talks/lectures, assisting Museum staff with virtual programs, audio support for musical events, set-up and maintenance of video installations


  • Advise staff on multimedia projects and equipment purchases
  • Maintain, organize, and build storage units for equipment and take inventory of all AV equipment, including periodic condition checks and maintenance.
  • Create digital archiving projects, including program and exhibition media documentation and archiving of TBM drive



Qualifications:


  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Three years' experience operating and maintaining sound production, film, video, and projection systems
  • General knowledge of public address systems
  • Strong understanding of audiovisual and presentation technologies
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems and follow through to resolve technical issues
  • Knowledge of audio and video editing software and transcoding video, as well as livestreaming and social media platforms
  • Knowledge of 16-mm video production and PAL system
  • Experience soldering and terminating cable, fabricating and installing equipment racks, installing projectors and monitors, and troubleshooting audio and video systems
  • Comprehensive computer knowledge, including Windows and Mac operating systems
  • Meticulous attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to complete tasks
  • Ability to work well under pressure within a tight deadlines, the capacity to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and strong verbal and interpersonal skills
  • Able to coordinate, execute, and support executive, educational, and routine meetings in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with video-wall installations and multi-projector installations is a plus

Schedule: 35 hours per week, Saturday to Friday / work week and shift to be determined
