Job Summary

The Manager of Clinical Engineering is responsible for managing the technical and administrative operations through organizing and delegating to the team to ensure equipment and technology of a clinical specialty are configured, maintained, and performed to standards. Deploys new technology and implements changes to equipment management workflows and operational processes to ensure the clinical specialty technology and systems are optimally configured to support patient care and meet all applicable codes and regulations. Under the direction of the Director and along with the Clinical Engineering leadership team, the Manager will lead and motivate employees. The Manager will recruit, develop, and mentor the Clinical Engineering supervisors by defining needs through strengths and assessments and incorporating the principles of Relational and Therapeutic Practices. Spends the majority of the time (50% or more) achieving organizational objectives through the coordinated achievements of subordinate staff. Establishes departmental goals and objectives, and functions with autonomy. Manages the accountability and stewardship of human, financial, and often physical resources in compliance with departmental and organizational goals and objectives. Ensures subordinate supervisors and professionals adhere to defined internal controls. Manages systems and procedures to protect departmental assets. CE Manager 1 will play a crucial role in ensuring our organization adheres to regulatory standards while maintaining high standards of patient care and patient safety

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a position-related field or equivalent experience/training
  • Extensive broad-based hospital experience in Clinical Engineering, or other relevant areas, including operations leadership capacity
  • Leadership experience directing and managing clinical engineering or biomedical equipment operations, ideally for an academic medical center, integrated healthcare delivery system, or large hospital
  • Advanced user of internal clinical engineering technology and systems
  • Knowledge of available information technology software for clinical specialty areas
  • Advanced skill developing and implementing training programs that meet regulatory health and safety requirements
  • Excellent communication skills, both orally and written, with the skill to convey complex information clearly and concisely to diverse audiences and to work effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization
  • Advanced knowledge and skill to develop and implement process improvement strategies and quality improvement programs
  • Knowledge of biomedical services principles, processes, practices, and technologies and how these apply in a clinical environment to support a complex healthcare delivery system
  • Advanced knowledge of principles and practices of organization, management, budgeting, finance, human resources, and project management necessary to plan, coordinate, and direct diverse activities for the organization
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
