Summary:

Functions in the roles of instrument scrub during surgical procedures. Performs duties within the parameters of this assignment of responsibility, according to prescribed, delegated medical regimen, and hospital policy, and under the supervision of a surgical technologist and registered nurse.

Responsibilities:

• Assists with preparation of procedures under the direct supervision of the Circulating Nurse.
• Prepares room for next procedure. Participates in room turnover.
• Cares for supplies and instruments.
• Prepares and sterilizes instruments, supplies and equipment when assigned to CSP.
• Stock supply carts, sterile core, and OR rooms prn.
• Performs preparation duties for future surgical cases.
• Communicates with team members, surgeons, and other care providers regarding patient care.
• Demonstrates knowledge and skill necessary to provide appropriate care based on the age of the patients served.
• Knows and applies safety and infection control procedures.
• Sets up, operates and/or maintains equipment and work areas.
• Performs miscellaneous duties, as needed, to support operations and the provision of care.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current enrollment in an accredited surgical technology program (must graduate within 12 months of hire).
• BLS certification.
