Description

Note: Downtown Development Corporation is the employer of record as it relates to the Executive Director position. The City of Peoria is acting as the intermediary recruiter. The purpose of this position is to oversee complex issues and projects, effectively engage with various governmental constituencies and board members, manage fundraising efforts, serve as an advocate for downtown development, build consensus on projects, and facilitate public-private partnerships for the Downtown Development Corporation. This position builds strong relationships with City and County Governments, downtown business and property owners, brokers, developers and local economic development leaders. The Executive Director will also collaborate with diverse organizational stakeholders regarding coordinated strategic planning, branding, and unified tactical implementation, and utilizes fundraising capabilities to ensure sustainability of the organization.

Examples of Duties

IMPORTANT ATTRIBUTES: Knowledge of issues confronting downtown business and property owners, residents, public agencies, and community organizations. Ability to work closely and effectively with both public and private sector individuals and organizations including business owners, developers, residents, investors, government officials and related economic development, promotion and capacity building organizations. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with civic leaders, city officials and the general public.


Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Business Administration, or a related field from an accredited college or university and five years up to ten years of progressively responsible related experience. A valid Driver's License is required. Any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job considered.
