Position Description

Anoka County Child Protection's mission is to keep children safe through proactive prevention, intentional protection and meaningful partnerships with families and communities. Associate Social Workers in Child Protection Services have a rewarding and vital role in supporting this mission. Associate Social Workers are integral to our daily operations with specialized tasks to aid in our direct and indirect support to families in the office and community settings, monitor and assess safety and well-being, respond to team members to support planned or urgent needs, and provide documentation and tracking to ensure agency compliance and accuracy with specific data and fiscal requirements.

This is a full-time, exempt, hybridposition. Interviews will take place the week of August 5th, 2024 for those selected to move forward in the hiring process.

Pay & Benefits

  • Salary: $60,819.20 to $72,966.40 ($29.24 to $35.08 per hour).

  • 2024 Anoka County Salary Schedule Grade 32: $60,819.20 to $85,113.60 ($29.24 to $40.92 per hour).

Work Location

  • This position will work at Anoka County Government Center, located at 2100 3rd Ave, Anoka, MN 55303.

  • This position may be eligible for flexible work arrangements, including hybrid work, with some days working remotely and some days working in the office.

  • This position will work in the community as needed, in client homes and transporting clients.

  • Expected work hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Due to the needs of the families we serve, at times this position will need to provide support before or after these hours. We are seeking candidates willing to be flexible and available with notice to accommodate requests.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
These examples are not all inclusive and are intended to be illustrative of primary responsibilities of an Anoka County Social Worker.

  • Coordinate visitation with professionals and family members and assist with developing visitation schedules within the parameters set by the case managers.

  • Provide transportation to parents and or children to appointments, court, visitation etc. while using personal vehicle.

  • Facilitate supervised visitation at the government center, community, or in home settings between parents and children.

  • Provide hands on support during visitation to facilitate and coach parents to have positive and developmentally appropriate interactions, provide feedback to parents, end visits if necessary to ensure safety, provide professional documentation in SSIS (Social ServicesInformation System), and relay necessary information to the case manager.

  • Engage and team with other agency Associate Social Workers and share duties as necessary.

  • Complete all assigned paperwork tasks including tracking and documentation timely and accurately to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal requirements.

  • Provide support to case management tasks including referrals, data entry and records.

Qualifications and Requirements:

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed

  • Bachelor's degree in human services or closely related field.

  • In lieu of the required education, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

  • Valid driver's license and vehicle available for business use.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed

  • Two years' (2,080 annual hours) of job-related experience in a human services field.

  • Knowledge of the child welfare system and experience with computer systems such as SSIS, MAXIS, Outlook, and Word.

  • Knowledge of child development practices, de-escalation techniques, and parenting skills.

  • Knowledge of available community resources related to child protection.

Physical Demands and Work Conditions

  • Standard office environment

  • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus, such as to work on computers. Ability to see colors, shades, and brightness.

  • Hearing abilities required for general and phone communication, signals, and machine sounds.

  • Assignments are sedentary, occasionally alternating between sitting, standing, walking, crouching, and kneeling as required to perform job responsibilities. Frequent wrist and finger manipulation to complete computer work.

  • Occasional lifting of 10-20 lbs.

  • Equipment used includes computers, phones, and standard office equipment.

  • Travel within the community as needed. Travel between work sites may require driving a county vehicle and/or a personal vehicle.
