Job Summary

The Staff Research Associate I (SRA I) position is to assist with ongoing research projects with the Kao Laboratory at UCSF. The objective of our research projects is to study the role of the autophagy-lysosome system in the pathogenesis of neurodegeneration, specifically as it related ALS, frontotemporal dementia, Parkinson's disease, and Alzheimer's disease. To this end, the SRA1 position exists to assist in the generation of data for these projects, including those involving cell culture of iPSCs and iPSC-derived neurons, biochemical techniques including Western blot/Silver stain, and confocal microscopy.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $26.00 - $31.04 (Hourly Rate).

Required Qualifications


  • SRA I: BA/BS degree in related science and knowledge of, or experience with, the basic techniques or methods required by the position; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Working knowledge of lab equipment, including balances, pH meters, etc.
