Job Summary

This Postdoc and Staff HR Liaison is responsible for planning, developing, implementing, administering, and in consultation with Staff and Postdoc Human Resources (HR) Shared Services, coordinating School of Pharmacy's Staff and Postdoc recruitments, onboarding, renewal, and separation processes for the Staff and Postdoc populations. Reporting to the School of Pharmacy (SOP) HR Director, the incumbent manages School of Pharmacy's Staff and Postdoc activities, serves as a key administrative resource for faculty and departmental leadership, and is a member of SOP's primary liaison team to the HR Shared Services. These HR Liaison duties are performed in close collaboration with Staff and Academic HR Shared Services. This position also holds responsibility for oversight and coordination of any special HR initiatives. This position serves as the primary point of contact for Staff and Postdoc HR initiatives. The incumbent uses skills and knowledge of UC System wide and Staff and Postdoc HR policies and programs to address strategic personnel issues.

***NOTE: This is a Hybrid role, 2 days onsite and 3 days remote.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $75,700 - $123,100 (Annual Rate).

Department Description

The School of Pharmacy (SOP) has been number one in research funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) every year for over four decades. We train our students to think scientifically to solve health care's most pressing problems and to ensure that each patient receives the safest, most effective, and most cost-effective treatments available. The school is comprised of three (Bioengineering and Therapeutic Sciences, Clinical Pharmacy, and Pharmaceutical Chemistry) academic departments, and one Organized Research Unit (ORU) located on both the Parnassus and Mission Bay campuses. Its primary clinical training sites are located at the UCSF Medical Center, San Francisco Zuckerberg General Hospital, and the San Francisco Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

The Dean's Office of the UCSF School of Pharmacy supports the agendas of the Dean and the
School's three departments, the ORU and their faculties, through activities in its administrative and advisory units. The School of Pharmacy is the Academic home to approximately 71 faculty, and 701 Without Salary F(WOS) Faculty. The school employees about 271 Non-Faculty (residents, postdocs, and students), and 220 Staff with an annual operating budget of approximately $170M.

Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • Minimum 3 years related experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of University rules and regulations, processes, protocols and procedures of human resources as they relate to Staff and Postdoc employees.
  • Interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication, active listening, critical thinking, persuasiveness, advising and counseling skills.
  • Comprehension, critical thinking, and active listening competency: Ability to gather information, process, and analyze to reassemble information in an organized manner in written and verbal form. Engaging with colleagues to understand their processes and how their role links to other processes.
  • Solid knowledge of common University-specific computer application programs.
  • Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong skills in short-term planning, analysis, problem-solving, and customer service.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet time-sensitive deadlines.
