West Virginia University Research Corporation is currently accepting applications for a Laboratory Technician with the Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute/Department of Neuroscience

About the Opportunity

The laboratory technician will perform a combination of cell culture, animal behavior, and brain imaging studies to study the role of brain vascular dysfunction and systemic inflammation in brain injury and neurodegenerative disorders.

What you'll do:



  • Maintain cell and tissue cultures
  • Execute animal behavior and neuroimaging studies
  • Perform with data analysis
  • Assist with colony maintenance and post-surgical monitoring.
  • Daily tasks will also include maintaining a clean and orderly lab environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in biology, biochemistry, or neuroscience with course work and lab experience in cell and molecular biology or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of six (6) months of experience with cell culture, aseptic technique, and small animal handling is required.
  • Previous experience with cell culture, aseptic technique, and small animal handling is required.
  • Knowledge of aseptic technique and cell culture.
  • Ability to handle live rodents in experimental settings.
  • Attention to detail and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Comprehends and follows verbal instructions and written or published protocols.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills for communicating effectively and courteously with PI and lab personnel.
  • Working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
