Description

Clark College is currently accepting applications for a full-time, temporary Penguin Pantry Program Coordinator in the Office of Student Life. This is an in-person 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday-Thursday and remote Fridays position reporting to the Director of Student Life. This role supports all functions of the Clark College food pantry - the Penguin Pantry.

This position is a project position with an expected duration through September 1, 2025; renewal is dependent upon continued funding.

Position Responsibilities

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Serve as a first point of contact for the Penguin Pantry to provide general information, assistance, referrals to on-campus support and community food resources.
  • Manage daily operations of the Penguin Pantry to include purchase and stock food, supply management, and equipment maintenance.
  • Manage order submission and pickup from local food bank and stores, submit work orders, and coordinate with Facilities Services.
  • Generate purchasing, human resources, and work order requests for Pantry activities.
  • Train and direct the work of pantry volunteers, assigning and monitoring tasks and projects.
  • Manage and work alongside volunteers for Penguin Pantry packing and distribution days.
  • Manage Penguin Pantry website, online forms, and print resources.
  • Coordinate communication between participants and collaborators to include the Clark College Foundation.
  • Perform word processing tasks such as merging and sorting, spreadsheet, and use database software files, uploading/downloading.
  • Prepare spreadsheets involving the development of formulas; combine files to create reports.
  • Maintain records of incoming and outgoing correspondence, documents, surveys, and statistical information, following up on work in progress and submitting monthly reports to the Clark County Food Bank.
  • Plan, implement, and assess pantry events and activities.
  • Compose correspondence, publicity, web content, and printed resource materials.
  • Create and maintain community referrals for resources.
  • Prepare, implement, and provide presentations related to programs.
  • Update and modify pantry offerings as needed.
  • Support student and staff programming and events as needed.
  • Serve on designated College committees as assigned, attending meetings and/or conferences as program representative.
  • Perform related duties as required.

Qualifications

POSITION REQUIREMENTS AND COMPETENCIES:
Candidates will be evaluated based on application materials, including the supplemental questions and personal interview(s), and will be required to demonstrate competencies in the following areas:

  • Associates degree
  • Two (2) years of office or customer service experience.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook or comparable software/systems.
  • Current food handler's card or the ability to obtain a food handler's card.
  • Current driver's license.

  • Ability to multi-task in a fast paced, high traffic environment.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
  • The initial appointment will include a 6-month probationary period and the employee will earn permanent status after successfully completing probation.
  • This position is represented by Washington Public Employees Association.
  • Prior to a new hire, a background check including criminal record history will be conducted which includes a sexual misconduct background check as required under RCW 28B.112.080. Information from the background check will not necessarily preclude employment but will be considered in determining the applicant's suitability and competence to perform in the position.

SALARY/BENEFITS:
Salary Range: $3,477 - $4,632/month | Step A-M (commensurate with qualifications and experience) | Range: 40 | Code: 107N
Successful candidates typically start at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases.
