Job Summary
  • Operates the specific vehicles used for the project work in their field of specialty (road, pipelines, rail, etc.) in observance of the safety guidelines.
Main Responsibilities
  • Operate truck equipped with a dump body to transport and dump loose material such as sand, gravel, crushed rock and bituminous paving materials
  • Conduct pre-trip inspection checklist on equipment such as tires, lights, brakes, fuel, oil and water.
  • Assist mechanics in performing all necessary preventative maintenance on the unit to maximize machine's uptime and utilization.
  • Work with management and QC department to deliver consistent, quality material to our hot mix plants.
  • Work directly with Loader Operators and Plant Operators to move material safely, accurately, and efficiently through our operations.
  • Handle paperwork concerningload tickets.
  • Carry out detailed instructions, but also must be able to use good judgement in decision making and be able to work without direct supervision.
  • Must be able to oil, grease and fuel truck.
  • Operate the vehicle safely in traffic situations and follow the policies and procedures of the company.
Safety
  • Assist the shop mechanics in preforming all necessary preventative maintenance in order to keep the unit operating in a safe manner at all times.
  • Adhere to all health and safety policies and regulations set forth by management.
Skills
  • Responsible, reliable, and dependable.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Proven ability to work with others as a team.
  • General mechanical skills and knowledge of related tools.
Minimum Experience
  • Experience operating dump truck.
  • Must comply with the company's drug and alcohol testing requirements.
  • Valid NYS driver's license.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to climb onto and up and down a vehicle several times a day
  • Must be able to sit in a vehicle and operate it for several hours without stopping
  • Must withstand vibration from truck, road, as well as noise from the truck engine, other equipment and other traffic
  • Must be able to use arms, hands and feet in repetitive motions
  • Must be able to performmanual duties, such as sweeping/shoveling debris and rocks out of the truck bed, handletailgate chains, binders and binding chains.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.

Compensation

  • $22 per hour
