Overview

The Director of the AOG Supply Chain is responsible for leading the function performed by the AOG Parts Desk and a professional parts purchasing staff out of service aircraft for Atlas Air and under contract, Polar Air Cargo. As a purchasing and supply chain leader, ensures the sourcing and buying of parts for aircraft on ground, critical, and other discrete requisition types supported by the AOG desk are conducted timely, in the most economically sound manner to meet block hour rate targets, and in compliance with established policies, codes, and technical specifications. Responsible for annual combined operating and capital expenses in excess of $50M.



Responsibilities

    Lead, train, assign, and evaluate work of AOG Desk staff members to build competency and effectiveness.
  • Review and approve purchasing actions up to approved authority level; coordinate requests for higher-level buying approvals.
  • Performs exchange versus buy analysis against operational requirements and inventory holdings.
  • Responsible for conducting purchase, loan, and exchange order reviews for accuracy and compliance.
  • Provide real time solutions for all aircraft material requisitions including but not limited to Aircraft On Ground (AOG), line maintenance, flight spares kit (FSK) replenishment, non-routine scheduled maintenance, action plans, and other requisitions as requested.
  • Research inventory listings and responses to calls for parts to source effective and quality parts.
  • Coordinates loan requests and reports loan orders and returns.
  • Ensure all AOG requisitions are fulfilled within 4 hours.
  • Liaises with Maintenance Control Center (MCC) and line stations to provide timely and accurate updates on requests and seek feedback to assure operational concerns are addressed.
  • Ensure all transactions in TRAX are completed for loans, borrows and other AOG functions.
  • Updates aircraft maintenance deferrals with accurate and updated information pertinent to the technical supply chain
  • Reviews all invoices related to parts purchases to ensure accuracy, contract compliance and fair charges; disputes and negotiates as needed.
  • Understand and enforce contractual terms in vendor agreements; submit inputs for updates to agreements.
  • Supports an environment that encourages cross-functional communication and cooperation to assure operations success and customer value.
  • Perform additional duties assigned by Director or Senior Director as required.


Qualifications

  • BS/BA or equivalent experience in a supply chain, business, or related technical area required; MBA or Master of Supply Chain Management preferred.
  • 12+ years combined experience in aviation operations and/or supply chain required.
  • 7+ years' experience leading a purchasing, on-demand logistics, and/or sourcing team; this experience in the airline/transportation industry highly desirable.
  • 5+ years in additional shipping and/or transportation discipline a plus
  • Strong business acumen
  • Knowledgeable in performance measurement and able to conduct and apply analysis for process improvement.
  • APICS certification a plus

Special Demands:

  • Must be available to support 24/7 operations during normal business hours and on an on-call basis.
  • Must be comfortable dealing with higher level executives and on-demand communications.

Salary Range: $114,000- $154,000

Financial offer within the stated range will be based on multiple factors to include but not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset.
