Salary Range:Pay rate $29.71-$36.25/hr with annual pay of $61,796 - $75,400 with 3 - 5 years seniority

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

This position is responsible for keeping work areas clean and orderly,as well as operating industrial maintenance equipment within a shop environment and moving locomotives using radio and hand signals to communicate

EQUIPMENT OPERATION

  • Operate forklift, mobile crane,trackmobile, shop tractor, and power hand tools

EQUIPMENT AND SHOP MAINTENANCE

  • Sand, fuel,and clean locomotives

  • Clean and organize shop work area (sweep and clean work surfaces, store parts, empty and discard garbage)

  • Operate power-driven equipment such as a vacuum cleaner, electric broom, or steam cleaning gun

SHIFTS/HOURS

  • Full-time (40 hours/week)

  • Subject to seniority and governed by union agreement

  • Mechanical shops operate 24 hours/day, 7 days/weekwith three 8-hour shifts including weekends, holidays, and overtime

TRAVEL

  • Minimal

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least 18 years of age, or will be by the anticipated start date listed above

  • Ability to report for duty at the designated work location

  • Able to work safely in the above working conditions

  • Able toworkthe above shift/hours

  • Abilityto read, write and communicate (speak, hear and communicate) English

  • Ability to lift and carry up to60lbswithout assistance

  • Possess valid state-issued driver's license

  • Abilityto visually distinguish colors - red, blue, green, yellow

  • Ability to discriminate and differentiate between verbal and non-verbal sounds (signals, alarms, etc.) in the work environment

  • Ability to use hands and use hand tools to perform activities involving holding, grasping, turning and pulling

  • Ability to occasionallywork from various heights

  • Ability tobend, walk, stand andsit occasionally with breaks

  • Follow safety policies and procedures; wear required personal protective equipment

  • Ability to work in a team environment

  • Dues required per union agreement

PROBATIONARY PERIOD
