Part-Time Simulation Operations Specialist

The Simulation Operations Specialist works collaboratively with faculty to provide technical and managerial support for the Curry College Nursing Simulation Program at the Plymouth campus. This position is a part-time adjunct position with varied needs by semester. This position reports to the Dean of the School of Nursing.

Essential Functions:
  • Maintains current knowledge of simulation/lab equipment operation manuals.
  • Programs simulator software to model simulator's physiological response to instructor specifications.
  • Operates patient simulators and cameras for the duration of simulations.
  • Operates and maintains audio-visual and debriefing systems.
  • Sets up and takes down learning environment equipment for skills lab, health assessment, and simulation scenarios;
    • May involve rapid turnover of simulation lab set up.
  • Maintains and repairs all simulation equipment, including:
    • Patient simulators, computers, monitors and a variety of medical equipment.
    • Troubleshoots equipment malfunctions and contacts vendors as needed.
    • Collaborates with the Full-Time, Milton-based Simulation Operations Specialist regarding warranties and maintenance agreements.
    • Arranges scheduled maintenance of equipment.
  • Orders, organizes, maintains, and restock skills lab and simulation laboratory supplies.
  • Provides technical support for task trainers and multimedia peripherals including:
    • Beds/examination tables, headwalls, patient monitors, and other health care equipment;
    • Medication dispensing systems;
    • Vital sign monitors.
  • Provides theatrical production (costuming and moulage) for simulation scenarios as requested;
    • Mixes fake body fluids and creates wounds.
  • Provides technical assistance, support and training to faculty, staff, and student workers in use of simulation equipment.
  • Provides recommendations on equipment, supplies and materials.
  • Collects data for simulation lab utilization, ongoing research, or grant requirements.
  • Maintains simulation activities and learner confidentiality.
  • Maintains digital library.
  • Performs other job-related duties as required.


Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Minimal AA/AS degree with at least 5 years related experience or the equivalent in the Information Technology Field.
  • Extensive experience in computer technology and troubleshooting.
  • Combination of education, training and/or experience which can be demonstrated to result in possession of the qualifications necessary to perform the duties of this position

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Preferred experience in simulation.
  • Preferred healthcare experience.
  • Preferred certification as a Healthcare Simulation Operation Specialist.

Salary Range:

$24.00-$28.00 hourly
