The Senior Coordinator of Learning Innovation and Engagement oversees the daily operations and strategic initiatives of Learning Experience (LX) Design designated program services, specifically focusing on supporting and growing the services based out of the Tempe-campus Tech Hub, Digital Maker Studio, and Zoom Innovation Lab in the Creativity Commons. This role involves leading the development and growth of services, designing comprehensive training and professional development programs for student staff, and managing special programs that investigate and engage with new technologies. Additionally, the Senior Coordinator handles resource management, marketing, recruitment, and community engagement for the portfolio of services at the Tempe campus. The role includes planning and overseeing special events, evaluating program effectiveness, and fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration in alignment with ASU’s mission of inclusion, innovation, and excellence.

The Learning Innovation and Engagement Coordinator Sr. requires strong skills in program operations management, strategic initiative implementation, and leadership managing student-driven services. Key competencies include designing and delivering training for student staff, mentoring and supervising diverse student staff, marketing and communications for program goals, and managing special projects and events. Effective communication, organizational skills, and engaging with diverse stakeholders are essential. While budget preparation and resource management are growth areas, an understanding of emerging technologies is crucial for enhancing learning experiences and ensuring program success.

Essential Duties

Program Operations Management

  • Oversee daily operations of the Tempe Tech Hub, Digital Maker Studio, and Zoom Innovation Lab, ensuring high-quality technology access and support for the university community.
  • Maintain relationships with Enterprise Technology departments for escalations and technical support, staying updated on IT updates, security challenges, and relevant information.
  • Implement strategic initiatives to enhance the learning experience for students, faculty, and staff.
  • Maintain and enhance program services to support dynamic technology needs with the latest digital tools and platforms.

Zoom Innovation Lab and Digital Maker Studio Leadership

  • Lead development and expansion of the Zoom Innovation Lab and digital communication services, fostering innovation in digital content creation.
  • Collaborate with academic and administrative units to leverage the locations and platforms for enhancing learning, research, and community engagement.
  • Coordinate engagements, activities, and programs within the Digital Maker Studio, managing operations and student staff.

Student Staff Training and Professional Development

  • Co-design and deliver training programs for student staff, focusing on technical skills, customer service, and workforce readiness.
  • Oversee marketing and recruitment for services and student roles, developing promotional materials and outreach strategies.
  • Partner with the ASU Work+ program to create professional development opportunities for student staff, preparing them for diverse creative and technology-related careers.

Program Special Projects and Collaborations

  • Initiate and manage special projects exploring new technologies to support academic and administrative objectives, fostering innovation and collaboration.
  • Lead and contribute to projects advancing the university's technology capabilities and digital literacy, aligning with ASU’s mission.
  • Plan and oversee special events for the Tech Hub, Maker Studio, and Innovation Lab, focusing on logistics, planning, and data collection.

Budget and Resource Management

  • Prepare budget proposals and recommendations, establishing budget control for program expenditures.
  • Recommend equipment and resources for program activities.
  • Prepare funding proposals for external sponsors.

Community and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Liaise with students, faculty, staff, and community agencies to facilitate program objectives, in line with ASU’s commitment to serving the community.
  • Develop and distribute communications and promotional literature such as newsletters, brochures, or flyers.
  • Facilitate workshops, meetings, or conferences with high program impact, coordinating logistics, scheduling, and communications.

Performance Monitoring and Evaluation

  • Evaluate program effectiveness, develop and implement improved methods, analyze results, and take appropriate actions based on outcomes.
  • Review program applications or documents for acceptance or decision-making.
  • Prepare periodic reports, financial statements, and records on program activities and progress.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND four years administrative/coordinate program experience; OR, Master's degree in field appropriate to area of assignment AND two years administrative/coordinate program experience; OR, Eight years of progressively responsible administrative/coordinate program experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

  • Experience in engaging and collaborating effectively with students, faculty, and staff, utilizing best practices in community and academic engagement.
  • Experience in learning experience design and creative program development.
  • Experience in special event coordination, including logistics and operations.
  • Experience supervising and training student employees, fostering professional development and technical proficiency.
  • Evidence of effective communication skills.
  • Experience in work that requires organizational skills, with the ability to coordinate and prioritize work and activities efficiently for self and others.
  • Knowledge of emerging technologies and their application in enhancing learning experiences.
  • Experience in identifying, learning, and applying new technologies to meet service needs
  • Experience in developing and maintaining relationships with diverse stakeholders, including community and external partners.

Working Environment

Tempe Campus 8am to 5pm, Monday through Friday. Hybrid or flexible schedule as determined with supervisor and within ASU/Enterprise Technology guidelines. 

  • Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse.
  • Required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work.
  • Occasional bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 50 pounds.
  • Regular activities require the ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.
  • Clearly communicate to perform essential functions.
