Position Description

The Anoka County Facilities Management and Construction Department is committed to providing the highest standard of excellence in keeping all county facilities safe, clean, comfortable, and with a well-maintained environment.

Be a part of the Facilities Management and Construction team! The Construction Project Manager oversees Anoka County construction projects including creating time estimates, resource allocation, project status updates, and managing project milestones. This position handles essential construction project management tasks and coordinates with internal and external customers, vendors, and contractors to complete small-to-mid-size projects. The Construction Project Manager has a new and different work environment every day across a wide variety of facilities including office buildings, courthouses, libraries, license centers, and more. The Construction Project Manager initiates, coordinates, and manages construction improvement projects within Anoka County facilities.

This full-time, exempt, benefit-eligible position is located at the Anoka County Government Center. Interviews will take place the week of August 12th, 2024 for those selected to move forward in the hiring process.

Pay & Benefits

  • Salary: $70,012.80 to $84,011.20 ($33.66 to $40.39 per hour).

  • 2024 Anoka County Salary Schedule Grade 34. $70,012.80 to $98,009.60 ($33.66 to $47.12 per hour).

Work Location

  • This position will work at Anoka County properties.

  • Expected work hours are Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
These examples are not all inclusive and are intended to be illustrative of primary responsibilities of an Anoka County Construction Project Manager.

  • Manage construction projects across Anoka County, ensuring that project objectives are delivered on time, within budget, and with a high level of quality and customer satisfaction.

  • Implement project management processes and methodologies for goal achievement.

  • Monitor the daily progress of construction projects through milestones, budgetary guidelines, and/or other performance indicators.

  • Utilize reporting, analysis tools, models, data gathering systems, documentation procedures, and quality performance standards to complete construction projects.

  • Ensure accuracy in reports, standards, schedules, and contracts in support of Anoka County projects.

  • Address customer and vendor needs to ensure smooth delivery of projects. Interface with internal and external project stakeholders affected by and contributing to the projects.

  • Coordinate with other departments to achieve and meet the county's current and future construction project objectives, providing direction and oversight for tasks and troubleshooting items related to assigned projects.

  • Coordinate the efforts of all parties involved in the project, including architects, consultants, contractors, sub-contractors, and laborers.

  • Collaborate with team members, providing guidance and support as needed to ensure project objectives are met with high-quality results and customer satisfaction.

  • Provide leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to a subordinate group.

Qualifications and Requirements:

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in a Construction Management or related field and at least 2 years of job-related experience

  • In lieu of the required education, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis

  • Knowledge of building and construction codes and regulations

  • Successfully pass driver's license background check

  • Must have a valid driver's license and vehicle available for business use

  • Strong team orientation with high initiative, excellent communication, creative problem-solving, and leadership skills

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Physical Demands and Work Conditions

  • Standard office environment, and outdoor work sites in all weather conditions depending on assignment

  • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus, such as to work on computers. Ability to see colors, shades, and brightness.

  • Hearing abilities required for general and phone communication, signals, and machine sounds

  • Ability to detect, discern, and tolerate a wide range of scents required for safety and performance of essential duties

  • Assignments require several hours of varied physical activity in addition to viewing a computer screen, sitting at a desk, or walking/standing

  • Physical activity may include repeated bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, walking on sloped or uneven terrain, and handling/carrying equipment

  • Regular lifting of 0-25 lbs., occasional lifting of up to 75 lbs.

  • Equipment used includes computers, phones, and standard office equipment in addition to security technology equipment depending on assignment

  • Occasional travel to other county work sites as needed

  • Travel between work sites may require driving a county vehicle and/or a personal vehicle

  • Exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals, fumes, airborne particles, prolonged vibration from machinery, and other hazards is possible while performing essential duties
