Rate of Pay:



This position is a grade 8 with a minimum hourly rate of $16.03 and a midpoint of $17.82. Hourly rate offer will be commensurate with the education/experience, in alignment with the College's compensation philosophy, and the current CBA, if applicable.

Job Summary:



An employee in this classification performs work of routine difficulty by operating telecommunications equipment, routing calls and assisting in communicating and reporting emergency situations to the appropriate department. Immediate supervision is received by the assigned manager.



Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:



1. High school diploma or general education degree (GED) with 1 year of switchboard experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
2. Working skill in customer service.



Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:





Essential Duties:




  1. Operate telecommunication equipment and route calls to the proper extensions.
  2. Maintain contact with the ECC Police department and Operations and Maintenance department using a two-way radio.
  3. Update and maintain computerized trouble logs, police logs, and telephone logs on a daily basis.
  4. Assist with emergency situations through interaction with the ECC Police department and/or paramedics.
  5. Monitor weather radio and fire alarm panel and report any problems to the necessary personnel.
  6. Maintains required training, licensure and/or certification
  7. Maintains confidentiality of privileged information and adheres to applicable privacy laws
  8. Demonstrates sensitivity, understanding and respect of diverse populations within the workplace
  9. Maintains an understanding of the work of colleagues to effectively provide back-up and/or support for co-workers during times when the division is short-staffed or experiencing an increased volume of work.
  10. Adheres to department guidelines for attendance and punctuality.



Other Duties:



1. Assist visitors by directing them to the proper person or department.
2. Perform other job-related duties as assigned which pertain to the job description.
3. Ability to work a flexible schedule which includes days/evenings/weekends as needed by the department.
