Part-Time Assistant Coach Football

Under the direction of the Head Coach, the Assistant Coach is responsible for all aspects of the development and administration of a successful NCAA Division III Intercollegiate Sport Program. The program will be conducted in accordance with all College and National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC), and Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) rules, regulations, and policies.

The Assistant Coach is a professional employee of the College with a primary duty of teaching and instructing student-athletes in the specific sport that is being coached. The vast majority of the Assistant Coach's time is spent on coaching/teaching duties, while a minority of the Assistant Coach's time is spent performing administrative duties.

Essential Functions:

1. Coaching/Teaching Duties (75%% of Assistant Coach's time):
  • Prepare individual practice plan for your position daily;
  • Attend football camp practices and meetings as required;
  • Attend in season daily practice sessions and meetings;
  • Break down opponent's film and find weaknesses and coordinate a game plan with the coordinators and Head Coach;
  • Teach the proper position technique according to the Curry College football program;
  • Teach the proper schemes associated with the Curry College football program to the players and help them understand to the fullest extent;
  • Each Sunday and Monday meet with the staff for game film review, upcoming opponent film breakdown;
  • Each Monday meet with the players for game film review and breakdown of upcoming opponent;
  • On game day communicate clearly and decisively the information required by the Head Coach and Coordinators;
  • Attend spring football practices and plan accordingly;
  • Attend Zoom conferences with individual players and teach the schemes and plans versus each opponent;
  • Attend Zoom conferences with the coaching staff to better prepare ourselves when discussing opponent schemes and assisting our players to understand our opponent in a more thorough manner.

2. Administrative Duties / Recruiting (25% of Assistant Coach's time):
  • Coordinate uploading of recruit lists into our Front Rush program for main recruit database;
  • Daily review of Front Rush program review of videos for new recruits;
  • Recruit student athletes in local specified area;
  • Attend prospective student athlete combine events, games and recruiting fairs to promote the program;
  • Communicate with recruits thru social media and by phone to promote Curry, get to apply, visit and commit;
  • Attending Coaches clinics for the continuation of the most updated information/styles for coaching and recruiting;
  • Recruit as many talented prospects as possible and get commitments of incoming recruits to fill our roster. Process will be as follows;
  • Review HUDL film, grade film;
  • Have student athlete (SA) complete a recruiting questionnaire;
  • Acquire a SA transcript for eligibility;
  • Contact continuously to follow up with SA understanding of the recruiting process, schedule an on campus visit;
  • Have student athlete apply to the college, track the SA application until acceptance and inform them along the way what may be missing;
  • Notify the SA of the merit award, communicate to the SA the process for filing a FAFSA form;
  • Track where the FAFSA form stands until awarded;
  • Schedule the SA for a Blue Chip recruiting event, have the student athlete commit to Curry College;
  • Have student athlete deposit at the college;
  • Continuously update information from recruits into our recruiting database (Front Rush);
  • Help setup and attend Blue chip recruit events on campus with students and parents top promote our program;
  • Speak to all recruits to educate them about Curry;
  • Speak to all parents to introduce ourselves and tell why we coach;
  • Lead tour of campus with recruits and family members;
  • Meet potential recruits on campus for visits;
  • Invite recruits to all home games;
  • Meet recruits and family members before home games.

Additional Functions:
  • Comply with the sport specific intercollegiate affiliation policy, conference rules, and department policy and procedures;
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Coach
  • Respect and maintain confidentiality, parameters of operation, professional protocols, and individual privacy.


Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) in a related discipline from an accredited four-year collegiate institution.
  • One to two years of coaching experience at the club, high school or college level.
  • Experience in coaching and knowledge of the fundamentals, tactics, and strategies of coaching intercollegiate sports with ability to recruit talented players for the program.
  • Knowledgeable and current on all College rules and regulations concerning eligibility and recruiting related to specific sport that is being coached.
  • Ability to handle emergency situations involving students.
  • Current driver's license and good driving record.
  • Ability to travel.
  • Ability to work evening and weekends and some holidays.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Intercollegiate sport specific experience.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification.
