Senior Hydrogeologist

Are you a Geologist seeking a challenging opportunity with a firm committed to our employees and providing excellence? S&ME is looking for an eager and dedicated full-time Senior Hydrogeologist to join our Civil team in Charlotte, North Carolina.

About the Role:

As a Senior Hydrogeologist, you will plan, develop, coordinate, and direct large and important hydrogeologic investigations or projects of major scope and importance. Serve as a technical expert within our Energy Markets including power generation, nuclear, waste management, mining, etc. May serve as an individual researcher or worker for problem areas of considerable scope and complexity where the solution must be approached through a series of complete and conceptually related studies. Mentors, trains, and oversees the work of subordinate professionals.

The qualified individual will possess extensive experience with services such as site characterizations, hydrogeologic studies, technical, permitting, and compliance support of facilities, groundwater, surface water, leachate, and gas assessments. This position is within the Charlotte Ayrsley location and as such will service clients within natural gas, electricity distribution, nuclear, water resources and dams, renewables, mining facilities, waste management, and municipalities.

As a leader in our team, you will manage projects from start to finish, overseeing client communication, proposals, field operations, and financials. You will execute detailed field investigations for complex projects and prepare comprehensive environmental reports, permit applications, and work plans. Additionally, you will take the lead on proposals of unusual size or complexity, drive business development, mentor junior staff, maintain client relationships, and actively engage in professional industry organizations.

About You:



  • You have a Bachelor's (or higher, a plus) degree in Geology
  • You have 10+ years of relevant experience
  • You are a Professional Geologist (PG) in North Carolina
  • You have excellent written and verbal communication skills; attention to detail; and ability to meet deadlines
  • You are proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word, and able to learn commercial software applications
