General Manager

The City of Long Beach Utilities Commission (LBU) is seeking a General Manager who will report to a 5-member Board. Long Beach Utilities operates three utilities (water, sewer and natural gas). Long Beach Utilities has an operating budget of $378  million, with approximately  500 FTE’s. Long Beach Utilities is one of only a few municipalities in California that operates a natural gas utility. 

Long Beach Utilities is positioned to continue its mission as a major utility in Southern California  and a leader in public utility best practices, with a strong focus on sustainability, environmental leadership and superior customer service. Having one of the most extensive array of infrastructure projects in the region, Long Beach Utilities is poised to address some of the most innovative climate change and conservation initiatives in the region. The General Manager will oversee several major infrastructure projects.

The Commission is seeking an exceptional leader, who is people centric, results oriented and committed to high standards of excellence and customer service, project delivery, financial stability, and operational effectiveness. The core responsibilities of the General Manager are to ensure utility resiliency, reliability, sustainability and innovation.
