Payroll Specialist

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for processing weekly payroll for multiple company divisions and supporting the Payroll Supervisor in departmental functions.

Essential Functions (not in order of priority):



  • Analyzes, prepares, and inputs payroll data. Uses automated system to produce accurate and timely weekly payroll for all Truck Country employees.
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable state and federal wage and hour laws.
  • Prepares weekly, monthly, quarterly, and year-end reports (gross payroll, hours worked, PTO accrual, tax deductions, benefit deductions, etc.) for management.
  • Solves problems concerning payroll, answers inquiries, and enforces payroll policies.
  • Responsible for weekly journal entries to post payroll and taxes to the general ledger.
  • Processes weekly payments of wage garnishments as required by law.
  • Assists in development of overall payroll procedures by recommending improvements or changes when deemed necessary for greater efficiency.
  • Maintain regular onsite attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.



Education, Skills and Knowledge Required:



  • Previous payroll experience processing payroll for an organization or a 2-year degree in Accounting.
  • 2-3 Years of payroll processing.
  • Basic accounting knowledge is also preferred.
  • Knowledge of processes and regulations that pertain to payroll.
  • Knowledge of computer applications and programs, including spreadsheets.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with employees, administrators, and the public.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with tact and diplomacy in daily operations.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective and professional working relationships with employees, administrators, and the public.
  • Ability to incorporate the company's mission into day-to-day operations.

  • Ability to multi-task in an efficient and organized manner
