POSITION SCOPE:

Under general supervision, the Senior Accountant, will research complex accounting transactions and prepare technical accounting memos based on a wide variety of topics. Will provide support to internal and external audits as required. Build relationships with the generating plants and develop business knowledge in order to be identified as point of contact for accounting issues and in support of the various deliverables.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Research and document complex accounting transactions including those related to derivatives, revenue arrangements under ASC 606, leases under ASC 842 and consolidation accounting, among others.

  • Provide timely accounting analysis and due diligence support for proposed transactions as well as recommendations on deal structure as required to support the decision making by the M&A team and Senior Leadership.

  • Update and maintain the Contract Accounting Treatment system in order to track significant contracts and the accounting conclusions related to them.

  • Stay up to date on new accounting pronouncements and relevant GAAP issues and evaluate how they may impact the Company.

  • Prepare or participate in preparation of certain footnote disclosures for public financial statements.

  • Assist in the review of financial statements for external filings required by legal agreements and local laws and regulations on a consistent basis.

  • Assist with information requests from external auditors during quarter and year end reviews.

  • Assist in developing and maintaining adequate SOX compliance as it relates to technical accounting

  • Assist in special accounting projects and regulatory accounting matters as assigned.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance/Business or a related field from an accredited college or university

  • Must have a minimum of five (5) years recent verifiable experience in a senior accounting role (or similar) within a large multi-national firm, or equivalent

  • Must be proficient in personal computer skills and have strong research and project management skills

  • Must exhibit in-depth knowledge of US GAAP and be able to understand and interpret complex accounting guidance

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • CPA preferred

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Ability to read and interpret complex contract language

  • Effective oral and written communication skills

  • Self-motivated and able to work in a team with limited supervision

  • Renewable Energy Industry experience is a plus
