Summary

For a limited time MaineHealth is offering sign on bonuses for Certified Nursing Assistants:

* 0-1 years of experience eligible for $2,500 (full time)

* 1+ years of experience eligible for $4,000 (full time)

Eligible candidates are hired into a Full or Part time CNA position. Bonus amount prorated for Part time hires, per diem hires are ineligible. Current MaineHealth member employees are ineligible; former MaineHealth Members are ineligible until greater than 6 months separation from employment.

CNA Companion Role

Float between units, provide 1 to 1 care to patients.

This CNA Companion role is a great opportunity to spend more dedicated time and build rapport with the patients you care for

12 hour shifts

Position Summary

Under supervision of a Registered Professional Nurse and according to established policies and procedures, performs various service duties to provide patient care, supervision, companionship, and support to the patient. Helps to maintain the patient room in a clean and orderly condition. Specific duties may vary by area of assignment.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)



  1. Education: High school diploma.
  2. License/Certifications: Must be certified as a Nursing Assistant by the State of Maine and be on the State of Maine Registry, having completed a six-week or equivalent course.
  3. BLS and ability to perform CPR required.
  4. Knowledge of standards, policies, procedures and organizational structure of the unit, the Department of Nursing and Southern Maine Health Care. Ability to read, write, and speak English in order to follow oral or written instructions and complete standard forms.
  5. Requires the interpersonal skills necessary to exchange information and maintain continuous relationships with patients, visitors, and other SMHC employees.
  6. Requires excellent communication skills.
  7. Requires the ability to almost constantly sit, stand, walk, and reach.
  8. Requires the ability to maintain sensitive information in a confidential manner.
  9. Participates in continuing education relative to role as defined.
