Job Description

Purpose
Facilitates the timely purchase of supplies, services, and outside sub-contracting services for operations. Position is supportive to all areas of operations.

Essential Job Functions

  • Prepare and distribute bids to qualified vendors
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills
  • Purchase all services and supplies, including Factory Stores, through approved requisition and/or Factory Stores order report utilizing spot buy purchase orders and/or consignment and blanket purchase orders.
  • Sub-Contracting services are negotiated, processed, and expedited in conjunction with operations requirements.
  • Enter all Purchase Orders into system and maintain files with backup information
  • Expedite and track orders as necessary
  • Source and update vendors as required. Control and maintain vendor insurance certificates and hold harmless agreements.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • A minimum 5 years of purchasing experience within manufacturing organizations with a demonstrated track record of accountability and achievement.
  • Thorough knowledge of purchasing procedures and practices, excellent communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Strong computer literacy with ability to manage multiple data bases, data entry skills and ability to search and pull-down data.
  • Prior experience with ERP/MRP systems is desirable.
  • Strong Excel/Microsoft Office skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Attention for detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good time management skills.

Working Conditions

  • Exposure to indoor manufacturing environment
  • Working conditions may include small spaces, dust, fumes, odors, hot / cold temperatures, inside / outside noise vibration, standing on concrete for long hours and wet or uneven surfaces

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to thirty-five (35) pounds on a repetitive basis.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, squat, climb, kneel, twist and work at heights on an intermittent basis
  • Must be able to work with and around forklifts and hazardous machinery.
  • Must be able to wear all required Personal Protective Equipment.
