Research Assistant

Our team is seeking a Research Assistant (RA) to support Dr. Tahilin Sanchez Karver's federally-funded projects on Latina/o/x HIV prevention and care navigation and support strategies. The RA will be responsible for recruiting and enrolling study participants and actively engage in qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis. We are looking for individuals who are self-motivated, possess strong organizational abilities, can manage multiple tasks, and adhere to deadlines. Proficiency in written and spoken Spanish at a native or advanced level is highly preferred.

This RA role contributes significantly to the development of strategies for HIV navigation and support strategies for Latino/a/x communities both locally and abroad. The ideal candidate will be culturally aware, possess a high level of emotional intelligence, and be highly organized. Demonstrating excellent judgment in handling sensitive situations, the RA will build and sustain trust with the communities served. Working independently with a high degree of organization and dependability, this position offers opportunities for mixed methods analysis, literature review, and writing scientific manuscripts according to project requirements.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist with recruitment and enrollment of study participants.
  • Assist with data collection, including conducting participant observations and interviews.
  • Assist with coding and analyzing qualitative and quantitative data (Stata and Atlas.ti experience preferred but not required).
  • Input and manage data in Qualtrics, REDCap, or similar systems.
  • Contribute to reports, publications, and project summaries.
  • Willingness to travel to study sites when needed.

Special Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Spanish proficiency required.
  • Excellent work attitude and professionalism in working closely with physicians and scientists.
  • Ability to think and work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong desire to contribute to community based participatory research.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in related discipline.
  • Additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Spanish-English bilingual.

Starting Salary Range: $17.20 - $30.30 HRLY (Commensurate with experience)
