Laboratory Supervisor Requisition Number: 2024-1820-09 Are you seeking a challenging opportunity with a firm committed to our employees and providing excellence? S&ME is looking for an eager and dedicated full-time Laboratory Supervisor to join our Construction Services team in Huntsville, Alabama. About the Role: As a Laboratory Supervisor, you will manage the daily functions of geotechnical and construction materials testing labs, ensuring efficient operations and staff oversight. You will drive the implementation of advanced testing technologies and methods, maintain lab equipment, and refine procedures. In your role as Laboratory Supervisor, you'll market lab services to clients and project managers, offering expert consultation. You'll also oversee laboratory accreditation programs, ensuring compliance and high standards are met. A successful Laboratory Supervisor would ideally possess the following: proficiency in ASTM and AASHTO test methods, AASHTO R18 QMS, and calibration of geotechnical and material testing equipment, as well as experience with specialized software (Geosystems, Sigma 1, NEXT, WinSAS), Lab Information Management Systems, and automated testing equipment with electronic data acquisition. About You: You have a Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, or Geotechnical Engineering or other closely related technical field, a plus You have a minimum of 4 years combined experience in geotechnical and construction materials testing with a minimum of 2 years experience in a supervisory, management, or leadership role You are proficient with computer technology and mechanical testing equipment Are You Willing and Able to: Perform the physical demands of the position with the use of company-provide Personal Protective Equipment such as: Working outdoors in varying weather conditions Standing up to 8 hours a day, up to 12 hours on occasion Routinely lifting and carrying 40-50lbs, (field/laboratory samples and equipment) Maneuver field equipment safely, such as a loaded wheelbarrow, on uneven ground and around active construction sites Traveling out-of-town (typically overnight) for assignments as necessary Working outside of normal business hours when necessary About S&ME: For over 50 years, S&ME has delivered innovative solutions in geotechnical, civil, environmental, and construction materials, tackling our clients' toughest challenges.
