The Role

As we continue to grow as QuidelOrtho, we are seeking a Quality Control Inspector. The Quality Control Inspector oversees, supports, performs routine and special assignments as requested for visual, dimension and functional inspections, line clearance and first articles per inspection instructions while maintaining efficiency of manufacturing operations. Documents and reports inspection findings, results and monitors corrective actions to inspection findings. Performs product identification and traceability activities, as required.

This position will be onsite full-time at our Rutherford facility (Carlsbad, CA).

The Responsibilities

  • Performs and documents hourly Inspections, line clearance, and training
  • Performs, documents and files First Articles and Retention Samples
  • Reviews, approves and maintains Device History Records for all manufacturing functions in accordance with applicable standards and regulations.
  • Ensures calibration and maintenance is performed on inspection equipment
  • Investigates and resolves daily Issues.
  • Provides documented training within the shift/department including temporary/contract employees.
  • Initiates Non-Conforming Materials Reports (NCMR's) as required. Closes NCMR and work orders in LN standard procedures.
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

The Individual

Required:

  • 1-2 years' Quality Control inspection experience required.
  • Experience in a medical device in a high-volume manufacturing environment strongly desired.
  • Ability to read, interpret and follow detailed procedures, instructions and drawings.
  • Solid understanding of QSRs/ISO.
  • Demonstrated team-oriented interaction skills/professional behavior.
  • Experience in word processing, data entry, and spreadsheet navigation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of basic quality terms, definitions and concepts.
  • Understanding of traceability (product, material, and calibration).
  • Basic math skills to determine appropriate sample sizes for inspection based on lot sizes.

The Work Environment

If The work environment characteristics are representative of a warehouse, laboratory, and manufacturing environment and include handling of viral and bacterial hazards, potentially hazardous chemicals, as well as infectious or potentially infectious bodily fluids, tissues and samples. Flexible work hours to meet project deadlines.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Position requires ability to lift up to 25 lbs. on a regular basis and moving materials up to 35lbs (during line clearance and up to 50% of time spend in the dry room. Up to 50-80% of time at lab bench or desk, walking, standing, and sitting for long periods of time are routine to accomplish tasks in this role. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision and the ability to adjust focus. Position may require use of Personal Protective Equipment as posted.

Salary Transparency

The salary range for this position takes into account a wide range of factors including education, experience, knowledge, skills, geography, and abilities of the candidate, in addition to internal equity and alignment with market data. At QuidelOrtho, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The salary range for this position is $42,000 to $71,000. QuidelOrtho offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, along with a 401(k) plan, employee assistance program, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, paid time off (including sick time), and paid Holidays. All benefits are non-contractual, and QuidelOrtho may amend, terminate, or enhance the benefits provided, as it deems appropriate.
